The moment I saw California Governor Gavin Newsom had conservative influencer Charlie Kirk on his new podcast, I could see what Newsom was planning. It only became even more obvious when I saw a headline from the Daily Mail's report on the podcast.
"Gavin Newsom splits from California liberals and condemns transgender athletes in women's sport in chat with Charlie Kirk: 'It's deeply unfair'"
If Gavin Newsom were a cartoon villain, he'd be sitting in some shadowy high chair, drumming his steepled fingers together and saying "excellent" before thunder booms and he laughs maniacally. The headline is almost tailor-made to give people the impression that Newsom isn't one of them. You know, those radical Democrats who are so out of their minds that they should never be voted for.
Newsom wants to start distancing himself from them, because he does want to be voted for in 2028 when the next Presidential election cycle rolls around. You see, Newsom is beginning something of a four-years-long act of journeying to the center, and the first thing he's going to do is tell you that he's taking the 80 position in the 80/20 issue of transgender athletes in women's sports.
What he's not telling you is that as he says this to Charlie Kirk, Gavin is responsible for signing SB 107 into law in 2022, which made California a "sanctuary state" for youth-focused "gender-affirming care," with which one famous child, James Younger, was is facing the threat of puberty-blocking treatments in order to "transition" him into a girl after his narcissistic mother, Anne, fought a long battle against father Jeff Younger for custody, strictly so she could do this to her son.
Gavin is no centrist. He's a snake, and one that will play a very long political game in order to achieve power. To be clear, he is everything that destroyed our nation, everything we voted against in 2024, but worse. All you need to do to see how about it would get under Newsom is to look at how bad California is under the guy.
California should be the crown jewel of America. To this day, I haven't been to one place in that state that I haven't fallen in love with, but Newsom's mismanagement has turned that place into a disaster zone that its citizens flee by the thousands every year. According to data gathered from the U.S. Census Bureau, around 1.73 million people have fled California to greener pastures since 2016, and the flight began well before that.
Newsom is not a leader. He's hardly a politician. He's a man who learned how to work a system to his advantage and uses his influence to obtain power and money. He doesn't actually care about the people of California. If ever they try to confront him about something important, he finds a way to weasel out of it, like pretending he's on the phone.
Remember, this is the same man who tried to pass anti-parody laws over a parody video of Kamala Harris by a guy named Mr. Reagan.
This is the same Newsom who decided to shut down almost every winery in California during COVID... except his own wineries. The very same Newsom who, after telling everyone that the state was locked down, went out to have a fancy dinner at the French Laundry, a dinner in which he was glad-handed by a lobbyist friend.
I probably don't have to go on too much in this article about just how much of a weasel this guy is. You're a VIP reader, so you've probably read so much about Newsom on RedState that you've probably forgotten more than most people know about him. Ultimately, the man is not fit for the governorship of California, and if he's not fit for that, then he's definitely not good for the White House.
But Kirk won't be the last conservative he talks and tries to relate to. He thinks that if he can find some common ground with the people his own voters cast as "evil," then perhaps he'll start to look like that regular guy you kinda sort of like on the left. The more his own voters lash out about it, the better it looks, because it makes Newsom look brave to go against his own people to speak truth or find common ground.
But really, Newsom just found out after the last election that his voters are actually a much smaller pool than he thought, and that if he wants to win a national election, he's going to have to start appealing to people outside the bubble. Newsom isn't stupid; he's corrupt and irresponsible, but not stupid, not about the political game, at least. He sees the effect of unfiltered conversation where two sides talk like normal people, and he wants to get some of that for himself.
Because he knows he'll grow on people if he does, and he has four years of growing to do. Rest assured, come 2028, he'll be a threat if he keeps it up. People's memories are short, and personality is everything.
