Joy Behar, arguably the most ridiculous host on ABC’s “The View,” seems to be doing her best to top herself with takes that are increasingly stupid.

On Thursday, it was announced that Alec Baldwin would be facing two felony counts of involuntary manslaughter over the firing of a loaded gun he failed to check and secure at cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, striking her with a live round and killing her.

The charges are being brought by New Mexico’s First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, a person whom Behar claims is acting against Baldwin, not because he shot and killed a woman via his negligence, but is doing so for political purposes.

“The DA who is indicting him — whatever the legal term is right now — she’s a big…a Republican,” said Behar. “I’m only saying this because Alec Baldwin is a target for Republicans. They cannot stand him. I’m just saying.”

Behar then threw up her hands and said she was not saying anything more than that.

The idea was so farfetched that even her fellow hosts made faces and pushed back on her. One attempted to swiftly change the flow of the conversation to a comment by George Clooney.

Behar seems so obsessed with hating the right in America that she’s willing to see monsters where there are windmills. In a very clear-cut case where Baldwin’s irresponsibility and lack of caution cost the life of an innocent woman, fair charges being brought against someone shouldn’t illicit questions about their political leanings.

But since we’re on the subject, Carmack-Altwies is actually a Democrat, not a Republican. Where Behar got the info that the DA was a Republican is unclear.

Regardless, is Behar suggesting that only Democrats should be able to charge Democrats? Would she have this same position about Republicans only being able to charge Republicans?

I doubt it.

Behar has proven she’s so deep into her own political loyalties that she can’t see the forest for the trees. Why she continues to be a host on a daytime talk show about current events, after proving over and over again that she’s losing it, is beyond me.
