Cancel culture, as we know it, was never going to go away on its own. In fact, thanks to assistance from big tech and societal tastemakers, it threatened to become a societal norm. To kill it, it was going to take an army consisting of a populace done with dramatics, thought leaders, and famous people to turn against it as well.

Sadly, this was necessary because not every person is an independent thinker. They rely on people they trust to do their thinking for them, and sadly, too many people trust celebrities. Still, that doesn’t mean a celebrity can’t make a difference for good. A good idea is a good idea, after all.

While someone like J.K. Rowling would never be considered a conservative, especially by American standards, what she is absolutely in the right for is defending women against the transgender blitzkrieg on society and its abuse of women. Rowling has been absolutely unapologetic about her pro-woman stances despite mountains of hate, vitriol, and threats levied against her by transgender activists and their allies. They accuse her of “transphobia” due to her stance, but as one journalist found out after doing even a little digging, Rowling never said anything hateful toward trans people.

It seems more and more people are coming to Rowling’s rescue, including those in Hollywood. As more and more stack on top of one another, the anti-Rowling mob looks more and more ridiculous. This time, a heavy hitter has come out in defense of her in the form of Bellatrix Lestrange herself, Helena Bonham Carter.

Carter unabashedly defended both Rowling and her friend Johnny Depp in a recent interview where she noted that the attacks on Rowling are a “load of bull***t according to the New York Post:

“It’s horrendous, a load of b——t,” said the actress.

“I think [Rowling] has been hounded. It’s been taken to the extreme, the judgmentalism of people. She’s allowed her opinion, particularly if she’s suffered abuse.”

“Everybody carries their own history of trauma and forms their opinions from that trauma and you have to respect where people come from and their pain,” continued the “Les Miserable” actress.

“You don’t all have to agree on everything – that would be insane and boring. She’s not meaning it aggressively, she’s just saying something out of her own experience.”

Carter also defended Depp by saying Amber Heard was attempting to get some name recognition off the back of the #MeToo era.

“My view is that [Heard] got on that pendulum. That’s the problem with these things – that people will jump on the bandwagon because it’s the trend and to be the poster girl for it,” she said.

The Fight Club and Harry Potter actress is a pretty big get for Rowling and the movement against cancel culture. More should follow her example and come to the defense of innocent people who have done nothing but express an opinion the extreme left doesn’t like.

Moreover, it’s good that both left and right come together to resist the extreme left as more commonality is better for society, which is something the extreme left does not want more than almost anything else.
