The mass shooting in Buffalo, New York, has done what most mass shootings do; make everyone focus on the wrong things.

There’s a lot of talk about politics, ideology, gun control, and more. To be sure, some aspects of the conversation can give us a very good idea as to how things went wrong and paint a much clearer picture of the person who would commit so much evil.

But buried beneath it all is a much larger issue, and we’re going to talk about it.
