Ellie Kemper Admits She's a White Supremacist and Took Part In a KKK Ritual

The Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt broke and confessed guilt to the crime of being a racist who participates in white supremacist ceremonies.

Or she essentially did that when she apologized for these accusations that were being lobbed at her by the consistently wrong and ignorant internet mobs. The Ellie Kemper v Internet saga ended as most celebrity public trials do, with Kemper bending the knee and apologizing for the crime of being accused of something.

To catch you up, as Kira Davis wrote on it first, photos of a 19-year-old Kemper were found from the time she was crowned the “Queen of Love and Beauty” by the Veiled Prophets, an old-money St. Louis group with a history of racial exclusion that had ceased that practice 20 years prior to Kemper’s crowning.

As I wrote on the subject, it was clear that Kemper was innocent of all charges given the fact that the organization she participated in had abandoned its segregative practices and had black members. Moreover, to claim that Kemper herself endorsed racism is actually laughable given her stances and company she keeps, one of whom is a gay black man.

It was my opinion that the charge against Kemper was so ridiculous that all Kemper had to do was push back against these claims with facts even a little and people would rally around her. It was clear she was innocent and while the internet would surely throw tantrums, surely her co-stars would rally around her and push back on the narrative.

However, as Alex Parker updated us on Tuesday, Kemper has now apologized for it all and acknowledged that she’s a white oppressor.

“When I was 19 years old, I decided to participate in a debutante ball in my hometown,” Kemper posted to Instagram. “The century-old organization that hosted the debutante ball had an unquestionably racist, sexist, and elitist past. I was not aware of this history at the time.”

This was then followed by something that reads like a hostage reading the terrorist’s manifesto.

“But ignorance is no excuse. I was old enough to have educated myself before getting involved. I unequivocally deplore, denounce, and reject white supremacy. At the same time, I acknowledge that because of my race and my privilege, I am the beneficiary of a system that has dispensed unequal justice and unequal rewards.”

She continues with more apology and groveling, but let’s be honest, if you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all.

This resulted in a response from podcast host Tim Pool, and one that I found very logical.

“Kemper admits in a racist screed on Instagram that she took part in a racist event and then goes on to say that being white is better than being a different race,” he tweeted.

Oftentimes it’s very helpful to take certain things to their logical conclusion before we even get there. In this case, Kemper’s apology is an admission of guilt, as many apologies are. To apologize for something one did is an admission of a fault and subsequent regret for it. Kemper didn’t just say sorry, she flat out agreed.

Her message effectively boils down to “yes, the accusations leveled at me from the group of people who allow for no nuance or argument and who operate on pure emotion-based ignorance are correct. I am guilty of racism, supporting racism, and being of a race that has the ability to suppress other races through will and determination that lasts even through to today.”

One of the reasons these apologies never work (indeed, reading her comments you can still see many people attempting to dismiss her apology) is because admissions of guilt on this level aren’t admissions of a mistake via an action, it’s an admission of guilt about the kind of person you are.

This is why Kemper, and indeed anyone who’s ever been in this situation, should never apologize to the mob. Not only does your apology not matter anyway, but you’re also effectively admitting you’re a horrendous person who needs to be watched well into the future. You’re a person who must prove to unforgiving people that you’re better than your past self and due to the nature of the mob, you will be proving this for the rest of your life.

Kemper should have stood up to the mob and told them they were being ridiculous. She should have provided some background to the event, her family, and the people she grew up around, all of whom fall under this white supremacist umbrella now. She should have rallied her co-stars, friends, and internet denizens in pushing back against the mob’s ridiculous claims and showed people that we go too far with this modern mentality.

It was the perfect opportunity to begin returning sanity back to the mainstream culture, but Kemper, like many others, backed down and bowed. She told the mob they were correct about everything and that not only she, but white people in general, are the worst.

I hope she has fun kneeling to this mob until better people than her change society.
