We were told that states lifting their lockdowns would bring about untold tragedy, death, overflowing hospitals, and general destruction of civilization, yet according to a new study by JP Morgan, it would appear that the states lifting lockdowns are getting better, not worse.
CNBC’s Carl Quintanilla posted the bank’s research that shows a fascinating decline in infection rates by states ending their lockdowns.
“JPMorgan has a devastating piece arguing that infection rates have declined — not increased — in states where lockdowns have ended, “even after allowing for an appropriate measurement lag.” (Kolonavic),” tweeted Quintanilla.

Quintanilla also noted JP Morgan’s discovery of the same pattern happening in other countries that have released their lockdowns.
“Same goes for various countries, adds JPM. “This means that the pandemic and COVID-19 likely have its own dynamics unrelated to often inconsistent lockdown measures that were being implemented,” Quintanilla continued.

Data is consistently released showing that states who have released their lockdowns are doing just fine. As my colleague Nick Arama highlighted, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis obliterated media figures who have been trying to paint Florida as a state on the verge of an apocalyptic death rate due to DeSantis opening the state up from lockdown. The reality is the exact opposite as DeSantis made very clear. His state has been doing very well and infection rates are in decline as JP Morgan’s charts suggest.
“Any insinuation otherwise is just typical partisan narrative trying to be spun,” he said to reporters. “And part of the reason is you’ve got a lot of people in your profession who waxed poetically for weeks and weeks about how Florida was going to be just like New York.”
“Wait two weeks,” DeSantis said. “Well, hell, we’re eight weeks away from that, and it hasn’t happened.”
And @GovRonDeSantis was ABSOLUTELY justified. The same media that trashed his response lavished praise upon Cuomo — whose disastrous nursing home management drove his state's fatality rate. DeSantis and Kemp (and others!) are owed apologies. https://t.co/vE9rsTIwpL

Despite this fact, the media has still yet to cover the fact that ending lockdowns is actually helping eliminate COVID-19, not exacerbating the problem.
