John Krasinsky’s hit YouTube show “Some Good News” has been delivering the happy to us for its fourth week, and thank God for that. The populace has been subjected to negativity almost nonstop and the breath of fresh air is much needed.

The cool thing about SGN is that it shows you the strength of the human spirit and how it can make joy even in very dark times. This week, however, Krasinski decided to spread the happiness to the kids who have had their high school prom taken from them thanks to sheltering in place we’re all doing during this pandemic.

Krasinski decorated his SGN office to look like a prom scene and invited guests onto his show such as fellow “The Office” star Raine Wilson, The Jonas Brothers, Chance the Rapper, the Eilish siblings, and more.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to find fun and happiness in these times and as such, I’m really glad Krasinski and his celebrity friends are doing what they’re doing. We complain a lot about celebrities being self-important and out of touch, but here, we see them doing exactly what they’re supposed to be doing, and that’s bringing entertainment and joy to people.

What’s more, I love that they’re doing it in such a way that’s apolitical. No one is taking the moment to make a statement or express an opinion. No one is being asked or pressured to pick sides. It’s just bright spots in a dark time.

We’ll be out of this dark spot soon enough, but I very much hope that if and when that time comes, we still see this kind of news sharing going forward. Good tidings, acts of kindness, and people having fun is exactly what we need no matter if it’s hard times or good times.
