Planned Parenthood is an organization that has shrowded itself and for good reason. As recent events have shown us, not only are many clinics not up to par in terms of cleanliness, even to the point where veterinarian hospitals are less filthy, sting operations have shown Planned Parenthood official taking part in the sale of body parts from aborted babies.
This shadiness gets even shadier when you consider Leana Wen, Planned Parenthood’s ousted former President who took over after the departure of Cecile Richards.
According to the New York Times, a letter by Wen showed that Planned Parenthood was “deeply hypocritical” when it came to transparency. Wen essentially stated that that is working to buy her silence by threatening to take her healthcare away should she speak up about the goings-on behind the scenes at the abortion giant:
In her recent letter, she left open the possibility of legal action. “I have no desire to file claims against Planned Parenthood for defamation, retaliation, or discrimination,” she wrote ominously.
She said that Planned Parenthood was demanding her silence “in exchange for my contractually-guaranteed severance and continued health insurance coverage,” calling the efforts “unjust” and “unethical.”
Dr. Wen went so far as to invoke the recent Trump administration rules to accuse Planned Parenthood’s board of hypocrisy.
“It is deeply hypocritical,” she wrote, that Planned Parenthood, “would attempt to enforce a gag order on its immediate past President/CEO while fighting the Trump administration’s gag rule on Title X providers.”
Wen was fired because she was, apparently, not political enough for the organization. According to Wen, she went into the role with the mind that Planned Parenthood was a medical organization first, not a political player. Odd, since abortion and politics is exactly what Planned Parenthood exists for.

What we do know is that as pro-life sentiments gained traction across the nation, Wen’s strategy was allegedly to make Planned Parenthood out to be a healthcare-focused organization, however, the board wanted more emphasis on abortion. Soon, she found herself kicked out of her position after a secret meeting by board members.
We can speculate as to why Wen’s positions didn’t fit with Planned Parenthood’s powers that be all day, including the idea that Wen’s stances softened on abortion after her miscarriage, which was happened around the same time as her firing. Either way, it probably doesn’t matter. What matters is the fact that Wen and Planned Parenthood apparently didn’t see eye to eye so greatly that they decided she was a liability.
So why is Planned Parenthood so adamant about Wen keeping her silence? What does she know that Planned Parenthood doesn’t want us to know, especially as the organization prides itself on being an open book as suggested by Wen? If it is transparent, why the threats to punish Wen financially?
I don’t want to confuse anyone. There are no good guys in this situation. Wen is an abortionist who likely sees a financial opportunity to gain more money with threats of speaking up, and Planned Parenthood naturally doesn’t want to pay a ridiculous amount for her silence.
But it’s odd that this silence is apparently worth a lot of money and threats. What else is going on that we may not know about?
