Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Angry With Amazon Providing 25,000 Jobs to New York Because Corporations Bad

Democratic socialist darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is furious over New York and Amazon making billion-dollar deals to have the world’s most successful company settle into the state and bringing thousands of jobs with it.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the deal has been finalized with New York City and Northern Virginia splitting the “HQ2,” bringing with it some 25,000 jobs:

New York City and Northern Virginia will be the homes for Amazon.com Inc.’s second and third headquarters, according to people familiar with the matter, ending a more than yearlong public contest that started with 238 candidates and ended with a surprise split of its so-called HQ2.

Amazon is dividing the second headquarters evenly between New York’s Long Island City and Arlington County’s Crystal City neighborhoods, which are both located directly across from the major city centers. The company plans to evenly split the offices with as many as 25,000 employees.

The decision effectively gives Amazon a major presence in three coastal hubs that politically lean left, at a time when tech companies are under scrutiny for their perceived elitism and liberal social views.

Of course, any kind of corporate movement on a scale this large is going to cause any good democratic socialist to lose his or her mind, and like clockwork, Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter share the outrage she claimed was flooding her office in Queens. Whether or not these calls actually were flooding into her office is not proven.

“Amazon is a billion-dollar company,” she tweeted. “The idea that it will receive hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks at a time when our subway is crumbling and our communities need MORE investment, not less, is extremely concerning to residents here.”

She then launched into asking what she thinks are the hard questions, such as whether or not the company will promise to hire within the New York City community and whether or not they can unionize.

If Amazon does hire within the community, it will go a long way to helping the many who live in abject poverty within the area. Even HuffPo recognizes this, noting that nearly half of New York City residents struggle to make end’s meet. Moving a massive corporation into the city to provide thousands of jobs would help to ease this burden.

However, Ocasio-Cortez thinks this is just awful because the corporation would improve the area thanks to higher employment.

If people getting jobs isn’t how Ocasio-Cortez wants to fix all the problems she’s labeling, then the solution she seems to be leaning toward is what she always seems to lean toward, and that’s more free stuff.

Ocasio-Cortez’s socialist utopia features artificially lowered rent prices, “living wages” or even wages you get for just living, and free healthcare. Once again, New York’s youngest Democrat politician fails to explain how this will be paid for, just that it’s not good if it’s paid for through honest work at a highly successful company.

Ocasio-Cortez’s plan seems to be the elevation of New York City’s poor through free stuff paid for by corporations who she’ll help force to “pay their fair share.” While that’s not even possible, it’s not even elevation. It’s not making the poor any less poor, it’s just giving them handouts, essentially keeping them in poverty by making them stay poor to continue to receive the free stuff. This has been proven to be the pattern of things for generations, yet like any good socialist, Ocasio-Cortez seems to believe it’ll work this time.
