If you thought Missouri Democrat Claire McCaskill is friendly to Republican values, then you’d be mistaken, and that’s from the mouth of McCaskill and her staffers themselves.
A new video from Project Veritas showed undercover journalists talking to McCaskill herself and her staffers about various positions, such as gun control and Democratic values. According to McCaskill, she would support bans left and right in regards to firearms, but according to her staffers, she doesn’t because she has too many Republican voters.
In truth, McCaskill’s values fall in line with former President Barack Obama’s, but her staffers reveal that Obama will not be coming to campaign in Missouri because if McCaskill seems too much like a Democrat, then she’ll be rejected by Missouri’s increasingly Republican voting base.
So, McCaskill keeps her true motives and beliefs to herself in order to fool Republicans into voting for her.
“Because of how like, cause he’s a very liberal candidate,” said Nicolas Starost. “And like…Claire distancing herself from the party is gonna help her win more votes than it will saying like: ‘Oh here’s Obama, the former President of the United States, to now speak on my behalf.’ Which is unfortunate because I love Obama to pieces, and I’d love to see him come here.”
“And they essentially have the same views on everything?” the undercover Project Veritas journalist asked.
“Yeah,” Starost answered. “People just can’t know that.”
It’s not exactly clear how McCaskill’s attempts to cover up her leftism will go at this point. According to Real Clear Politics, various polls show us that it’s too close to call in the race between her and Republican opponent Josh Hawley, however, it’s clear that most of the polls trend more toward Hawley than McCaskill.
Helped out by the Kavanaugh bump, Republicans are seeing rising numbers almost everywhere, and if the pattern holds, then no amount of faux-centrism from McCaskill will help her keep her seat.
After seeing this video, it may help some in Missouri to make up their mind, especially after seeing that McCaskill and her staff seem to believe the people of Missouri are chumps.
