Yesterday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) completely clowned CNN for their claim that he’s too chicken to come on their network to discuss the Parkland shooting by showing them that he’s demonstrated multiple times that he’s not.
“Gosh,” said Cruz to CNN, “I seem to recall doing not 1, not 2, but THREE town hall debates w/[Bernie Sanders] on [CNN] Each 90 min long. You can accuse me of many things, but being afraid of CNN is not one of them….”
Regardless, CNN is continuing the narrative that Cruz is too scared to appear on the network to discuss the hard issues. Whether this is to give off the impression that Cruz is too afraid to discuss gun control because the Parkland shooting makes him wrong about his stances, that CNN is a legitimate news network that Republicans are afraid of, or both, is anyone’s guess.
Thursday, CNN News Day anchor Chris Cuomo decided to put his activist hat on and confront Cruz about pushing gun control on Twitter, attempting publicly to call him out on his stances since he won’t talk to CNN directly.
“If Cruz thinks gun control improvement is not the answer, what is?” asked Cuomo. “Ask the question, Senator: what are we going to do to stop school shootings? Don’t just say what won’t work, work to find an answer!”

Cuomo then linked to an article from The Hill about him calling out GOP senators on air who won’t come on CNN to discuss these answers he wanted.
But in truth, Cruz already had talked to CNN and about that very subject, and the Texas senator had some proof to go along with it. According to Cruz, he had already done a CNN interview yesterday, and the network never aired it, choosing instead to push the idea that Cruz was a coward.
“That’s funny, I spoke to CNN for 15 mins yesterday about proactive solutions to prevent gun violence (like passing the Grassley-Cruz bill—which Dems filibustered—that would add $300 million for school safety) yet CNN has aired NONE of it,” tweeted Cruz. “Why not air the (entire) interview?”
Right hook. Left hook.

Uppercut.
“Here’s a pic of the @CNN interview — a 15-min exclusive given yesterday — that y’all still haven’t aired… (While falsely claiming I’m “afraid” to talk to CNN.),” tweeted Cruz.

To break it down, not only did CNN accuse Cruz of being scared to go on the network and talk solutions for atrocities like the Parkland shooting, Cruz had indeed gone on CNN, discussed that very thing, and decided not to air his interview while calling him scared to do exactly what he had already done.
