CNN seems to believe it’s entitled to interviews and exclusives. It even seems to think it has rights us peasants don’t when it comes to distribution of news.

So when CNN doesn’t get what it wants, it throws something akin to a cable news hissy-fit and starts publicly bashing the person or people who denied its desire. In this case, they wanted interviews with Republicans Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Sen. Maro Rubio (R-Florida) and Florida Governor Rick Scott following the Parkland shooting, and were denied or ignored. Unable to hear the word “no,” CNN then made a graphic with pictures of the three men and plastered above them “what are they afraid of?”

Ted Cruz was the first to dismiss CNN’s ridiculous accusations that he was afraid of appearing on CNN with one simple tweet.

“Gosh,” tweeted Cruz, “I seem to recall doing not 1, not 2, but THREE town hall debates w/[Bernie Sanders] on [CNN] Each 90 min long. You can accuse me of many things, but being afraid of CNN is not one of them….”

Cruz appears on CNN quite a bit, and to discuss a wide range of topics. He’s definitely not afraid of CNN, and that includes the subject of guns and gun control. Perhaps the reason Republicans aren’t all that interested in talking to CNN is because it’s become more of an advocacy network (Jim Acosta being a perfect example) instead of a news organization.

Their recent tweet discussing Florida gun laws is a great example.

For one, reporting that there are no laws against conceal carrying a long gun is a ridiculous statement to make. Try conceal carrying a shotgun or rifle, and you’ll find that you look not only very silly but very obvious. This is trying to sound scary more than it is factual. Furthermore, buying as many guns as you want is a standard practice across many states, and so rarely is that ever a problem that nobody sees the point in marking it for change. Again, this is to sound scary more than it is to report facts.

With the network seemingly more concerned with promoting an agenda than reporting the news, it’s no wonder some politicians on the right don’t give it any mind. They aren’t afraid, they just have better things to do.

Besides, if we learned anything from the story of the scorpion and the frog, it’s that despite any kindness Republicans might show, CNN will still attempt to poison them anyway.
