Monday’s failed NYC bomber, Akayed Ullah, apparently attempted to get a hit in on President Donald Trump before he attempted to bomb the subway.
According to the Associated Press, Ullah, 27, left a message on social media before the Monday morning attack, mocking Trump for failing to protect his people:
Akayed Ullah posted a statement on his Facebook account just before the Monday morning attack, stating: “Trump you failed to protect your nation,” the criminal complaint said. He also told law enforcement officers at the hospital where he was taken with burn injuries to the body and hands: “I did it for the Islamic State,” according to the complaint.
Ultimately, Ullah’s attack didn’t succeed due to inept bomb-making, thus making him the one that failed to attack our nation.
Ullah, who came to the U.S. in 2011, claimed that he attempted the attack on behalf of ISIS ginned up no results in his history with having contact with the terrorist group. However, it did show that he had become radicalized in 2014 when he had come across ISIS propaganda on the internet. Unable to reach ISIS in the Middle East, he said he was encouraged by their propaganda to rise up in their own lands.
The effect of Ullah’s attack was seemingly to embolden Trump to take further measures to prevent certain types of migration:
“Today’s terror suspect entered our country through extended-family chain migration, which is incompatible with national security,” Trump said in a statement that called for various changes to the immigration system. Earlier, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Trump’s proposed policies “could have prevented this.”
