"Progressives" Surprised to Find Women Are Attracted to Manly or Well-Off Men

To one surprised feminist writer, women still seem to prefer men who exhibit manly qualities or are obviously more well-off, which the writer laments as a lack of progress in terms of how we view gender roles.

According to Sydney Pereira, a study conducted by Coventry and Aberystwyth universities in the U.K. analyzed the site TubeCrush — a website where women post pictures of the hot men on the London Underground subway system — and found that after studying the last three years, women are still viewing masculine men as attractive.

Can you believe it?!

Pereira began by pointing out — as leftists are wont to do — the racism of the women’s attraction, noting that most of the photos posted are of white men.

“The “guy candy” posted on the website were mostly white men—despite London being a multicultural city—indicating that white male privilege is still an attractive quality,” said Pereira.

The Newsweek writer then went on to note — and you’ll never believe this — that women posted men who exhibited manly features such as muscles or beards, as well as men who displayed wealth:

The photos and comments focused on the men’s biceps, pecs and chest as well as perceived sexual ability. Items that indicated wealth such as smart suits, watches and phones were emphasized. Pictures showing other representations of masculinity, such as fatherhood, and more emotional and awkward-appearing men were far less frequent.

The studies lead, Adrienne Evans, is then quoted and notes that the revelations that women still prefer safety and security both physically and financially is problematic:

From smart-suited City workers to toned gym-goers flashing their flesh, the men featured in the photographs on TubeCrush show that as a culture we still celebrate masculinity in the form of money and muscle.

They are marking the middle-class, wealthy, mobile and sexually powerful male body, not as a political one as feminists intend it to be, but one that should be actively desired.

This celebration of masculine capital is achieved through humour and the knowing wink, but the outcome is a reaffirmation of men’s position in society.

It’s a problem as because although it appears as though we have moved forward, our desires are still mostly about money and strength.

As it turns out, a few years of radical feminist politics and social justice advocacy is not enough to reverse thousands of years of biological programming. Women, to the dismay of the “progressive left,” still want a manly man who can protect them and give them nice things.

If feminists think they’re going to change the biology of mankind through slut walks, pussy hats, and angry articles about the patriarchy, then they’re in for some serious disappointment.
