“I’m from the government and I’m here to help,” is Hillary Clinton’s unofficial, but terrifying motto.

Clinton announced from her website that she wishes create something akin to a Peace Corps at home, that will enlist American citizens in a sort of reserve that sends them to disaster areas, or places in America that need volunteer help.

Today, as part of her larger national service platform, Hillary Clinton announced her plan to create a new National Service Reserve that will expand ways for young Americans to serve their communities and their country. The Reserve will provide a vehicle for the sense of civic ownership and responsibility that Clinton has felt throughout her life, bringing Americans from all backgrounds together in common cause to make a difference where they live. Anyone can sign up to join the Reserve, and national and local leaders can call upon Reserve members to take part in projects of all types — from natural disasters in places like Baton Rouge or emergency relief in places like Flint, MI to addressing the epidemic of addiction in places like New Hampshire. Clinton set a goal of enlisting 5 million Americans, with a special focus on people between the ages of 18 and 30, in the new Reserve.

Like anything the government does for our benefit, it sounds nice and wholesome on the outside, but every bargain with the devil comes at a cost. For one, it appears that Clinton is allowing the reserve to dictate class schedules and business hours.

“Work with employers to encourage them to support employees in the Reserve through initiatives like volunteer time off,” it says on her website about implementation.

So Clinton is going to make sure businesses pay their employees to do the reserves bidding, and even award students college credit, though they never attended class? What if the corporation or businesses says no to this plan? This is an ambitious undertaking, so I imagine Hillary isn’t going to want volunteerism from the private sector, she’s going to want compliance.

Let’s say a business does comply. Clinton has stated that her goal is to see to it that people move into volunteering full time, instead of just part time. Will the corporations continue to pay that person for not working for them, but for the organization? Can that businesses let go that employee for any reason?

But as worrisome as that is, this tidbit of information mentioned by Yahoo should catch your attention.

The former secretary of state argued that her volunteer plan would help combat growing self-segregation in America, where people surround themselves with people who think, talk, look and read the same news as they do. “That comes with a cost. It magnifies our differences,” she said, adding that the election has drawn attention to that trend. “Then it makes it harder to put those differences aside when our country needs us.”

Again, this sounds like a great thing. Coming together, putting our differences aside, and focusing chiefly on helping our fellow man has a noble ring to it. But it’s important to remember that this is a Clinton plan, a Democratic initiative, and a Government organization. These items together in any combination have hardly ever equaled a focus on man, but more of a party building exercise. Even if it’s not now, like any other Democrat created program, it will be.

This is especially worrying, since Clinton wants to primarily focus on recruiting millenials to be the bulk of this reserve.

Studies have shown that millennials are particularly interested in volunteerism and are contributing to their communities in a variety of ways, setting new expectations for social impact as individuals, employees, founders and consumers.

This may sound tinfoil to some, but the record the left has with college students is less than stellar, and has bred the modern day SJW movement that plagues us today. A government organization that can call on youngsters to serve in places that Clinton – who will apparently have a personal hand in this – is also one that will have to train said students. If work like that seen in Louisiana during the Katrina floods is any indication, this will require things like “diversity training,” which in colleges is usually a way to indoctrinate students into thinking along racial lines, and usually ends with white students learning they’re bad for being white, and owe groups their obedience.

What’s more, Clinton has said she wants to create a “culture of service,” with reservists going on to reach the “next level” of service. What does that even mean? What will they be serving after their time in the reserve? Who will they be in service of?

None of this sounds good, especially from the author of “It Takes a Village.”
