Platner Makes a Mockery of Democrats' 'Party of Accountability' Claim

With Graham Platner’s election now dead in the water, there is only a decision to make for his party – will he be put permanently in dry dock, or will he simply be scuttled and sunk to the fathoms? There is no shortage of comedy watching the figures who lectured us fiercely over the issues of Der Oysterfuhrer now preening as if they are the ethical arbiters in politics.

After nearly a year of this guy’s corrupted curriculum vitae being explained away as secondary to his winning an election, the party suddenly found its scruples this weekend. The sheer desperation is impossible to miss as Democrats suddenly trot out the old "we're the moral party" routine.

Don’t swallow a dram of that snake oil. This is like a porn star being lectured on family values by a Skid Row prostitute.

The desperation is on full display as those in the Democratic Party and the ever-excusing media are making the audacious claim that they are the party that holds their problematic pols accountable for bad behavior. Jill Filipovic and Tim Miller typify this empty posture as they deliver the sermon. Though not the only ones, these serve as prime examples of this prevarication.

This political preening rises on occasion, and on the surface, it carries some impact. That is, until you apply a modicum of analysis to the claim. The argument of “We kick out our problems, while Republicans keep them in power” sounds like a tough argument to refute, but like most lies that get blithely delivered, it takes more effort to port in the truth. Allow me to heft those facts.

Whenever they bring up a GOP member held up as a counterpoint, it is not someone bearing the equivalent levels of impropriety. For instance, the “Well, what about Ken Paxton?!?!” deflection being heard today is wan on the surface, for a simple reason: Neither Paxton nor most any other example brought up from the Right carries the laundry list of disqualifying character traits Graham Platner possessed.

We heard a similar claim made a few months back when Eric Swalwell was hauled to the curb next to the recyclables bin. “See, we don’t tolerate this!” was heard from the party that tolerated years of Eric’s swirling sexcapades on The Hill. This was the guy who was so wise he fell prey to a Chinese honey pot, and the high-standard Democrats saw fit to place the guy who was a John for a Chinese spy on the Intel Committee.

And don’t even try this in the Platner aftermath. He was displaying dysfunction from jump street after he announced he was running. Since last October, this bivalve bloviator had copious issues on display, and the Democrats and the press were more than content to continue pimping him as the next blue-seat Senator. Just a sample of the items they tolerated.

  • When his communist writings were found, Democrats said the man had grown.

  • His history of racist and sexist commentary was shown, and the Democrats chalked it up to youthful indiscretions.

  • When he was discovered to have used a sexting platform that targets minors, the Democrats said all was good because he deleted the app.

  • When Platner appeared on the podcast of a supremacist, the Democrats said it was only a candidate reaching a new audience.

  • When he backed a neo-Nazi on his social media, the Democrats simply ignored it.

  • After he was quoted as rooting for the death of a Purple Heart recipient, the Democrats explained that it was caused by PTSD.

  • When his former campaign manager went public by stating she quit over his controversies, the Democrats scalded her for violating election propriety.

  • After Lindsey Fifield detailed his sexual aggression, the Democrats disputed the claims as coming from a conservative female.

And that impressively inappropriate list does not even include the infamous Nazi imagery permanently etched in Graham’s dermal layer. The Democrats — who LOVE to suggest any arm gesture is a Hitlerian salute and anything from Hawaiian shirts to working out is a Nazi totem — spent weeks telling us that having a death camp symbol inked above his heart for two decades was no proof of anything questionable.

Yet, today these are the same people trying to claim the ethical high ground because it took them 10 months to realize this guy was a social stigma and a political tire fire. You will have more success trying to sell Teva sandals to ice core scientists in Antarctica.

One shimmering example of this empty 180 on high-minded positions is seen at The Lincoln Project. That viper's nest of acerbic pundits was boldly backing Der Oysterfuhrer, right up until this weekend, when the Democrats and the sycophants in the media collectively turned tail. Now they have scrubbed all mention from their social accounts. Pretending you never backed the rapey Nazi with anger issues is a lie by omission, not ethical superiority.

We all see why this latest scandal concerning rape was what tore it for Platner’s pimps. It is because he had been trending down in the polls since the primary, and this latest broadside to their narrative was the final dagger to his electability. This is why it is that last month’s claims of rape behavior by a different female were not reacted to; he still maintained a plausibly elected position. The latest scandal torpedoed his positivity, and the party is against a replacement deadline. So now the man has to go. That is, Democrats are taking a firm stand against this behavior! (Oh stop it…)

When your action against indecency is predicated entirely on public opinion of a man, that is not taking an ethical stand. The Democrats are not acting out from a foundation of high standards; if you only take a stand once a man’s poll numbers dive into the red, that is not morality.

The best example of how all of this is empty ethics is the Cajun Raisin himself, James Carville. Weeks ago, he was speaking to Jake Tapper and admitting that the Democrats would never have tolerated a fraction of Graham Platner’s issues had he been a Republican. This exposes all of the desperation from the Left.

Editor's Note: The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject its globalist agenda.
