Think for a moment of all the tiresome bromides we have been fed by the press, concerning their own import. “We speak truth to power," “We hold the politicians accountable,” “It is our job to keep the government in check,” and all other inflated claims made. These are the supposed firemen, rushing into the burning building, but hold this in the back of your mind as we explore the mewling taking place by Maryland Governor Wes Moore.
For years now, Moore has been the focus of attention regarding his questionable past, particularly his military record, and what can be made of it. He was in the Army reserves and had been deployed to Afghanistan. At issue was Moore spending years saying he had received the Bronze Star, when it was found he had not. The story goes that he was eligible for the honor, but some snag occurred in the filings, and he was never granted the award. Somehow, for nearly two decades, the small detail of possession was a mystery to him.
He maintained through his ascendency through politics that he was a Bronze Star recipient, and after some lengthy controversy, he was ultimately granted the award in December of 2024 — some 18 years after he left the military. Many have speculated this was something of a cleanup effort, given that he had previously admitted that alluding to the honor had been “an honest mistake.” What has added to this controversy has been Moore’s abject refusal to release or give permission for access to his military records, and the same goes for much of his schooling.
On top of his military miasma, the local paper, the Baltimore Sun, has been dogging the Governor over policy issues. The temerity of those scamps! The paper has detailed a program placing sexual predators with foster children, as well as those with violent criminal histories employed in childcare services. Moore is not at all happy with this level of attention, so he did the adult thing as a response — he ran to MS NOW to complain about being picked on.
Sitting in with Democratic Party sycophant Jen Psaki, Moore was carping that the local newspaper was daring to commit journalism, and the hostess, Little Red Riding Couldn’t, helped him out, as she was in classic shoot-the-messenger indignation over the Baltimore Sun.
"What people should know about the larger context, the paper is owned by a Trump ally…who is the executive chairman of the Sinclair broadcaster. We’ve talked about the Sinclair broadcaster a LOT on this show."
Psaki then threw it to the governor to comment, and the weepy explanation he gave says quite a bit about how Democrats squirm like a 4-year old in church whenever they are held to the same standards as their Republican cohorts.
"It’s actually a very sad day - because The Baltimore Sun used to be our paper of record. It’s now become the paper of the Right Wing. You have a MAGA billionaire who is currying favor with the president of the United States."
Note the snit he is in that this news outlet no longer is a pliant Democrat news organ. It now needs to be shown as contemptible, and all this amounts to is name-checking of figures we are supposed to revile. The amusement here is in how easily all of this palaver is dispelled by reality. Unspoken by both of these finger pointers is that the Baltimore Sun is co-owned by a POC individual, Armstrong Williams. So, no corrective details are given; it is strictly, “You are not supposed to like these people committing journalism!”

But demonizing the Sun newspaper is purely done to deflect from the inherent contradictions. As Moore states that he is proud of his military service, he has steadfastly refused to release his military service records. Adding to the governor managing to trap himself, Moore recently had been quoted as complaining about the lack of transparency from the Trump Administration. So instead of demonstrating his own open books policy, Moore goes running to Jen Psaki for cover.
Which takes us back to the opening. Understand what Ginger Dodgers is saying in her mini rant: How DARE local news outlets report on government officials who are Democrats?! That allegedly brave reporting and in-your-face journalism is to be reserved for Republicans! Revealing unacceptable behavior committed by those on the left will inspire all kinds of activity from the media – as they go after those daring to report on the facts.
