The Worst News Outlet of the Week - Who Dominated in Dysfunctional Coverage?

It was an excitable few days for the press industry in this country.

The hysteria over President Trump razing the East Wing to start construction on a new White House ballroom consumed most of the media oxygen. You would think Trump was exhuming the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to have his family members interred on the site.

Also getting the press in a lather was the official indictment of Letitia James being handed down, as recalibrating those details needed to take place. All the while, there was a small issue of a Democrat candidate in Maine found to have a Nazi tattoo that needed to be completely ignored.

So once again, time to tug on the hip waders and begin the slog through the past week of reporting, and see which outlet distinguished itself on this flawed media landscape.

        THE CONTENDERS

CBS NewsThe staff at 60 Minutes was horrified when Bari Weiss dared to ask them why so many in the American public think the show is biased. Another possible fallout of the Weiss arrival was seen when co-host of CBS Evening News, John Dickerson, announced he is leaving the network at the end of this year. The network attempted to drum up sympathy for a Cuban prisoner with a murder rap, who is said to be going on a hunger strike after being deported to an African prison.

New York Times - Claimed the Letitia James case - where she is charged for the very thing she went after Trump over - was the result of “ruthlessness” on the part of the DOJ. Had an obituary for the East Wing. The paper showed concern over voter suppression when the Trump administration planned to monitor elections in California and New Jersey - there was no such concern when Biden’s DOJ monitored two dozen states in the general election last year.

ABC News – George Stephanopoulos was shot down three times by the CEO of Walmart in his attempt to say tariffs are making Thanksgiving, and general shopping, more expensive. Bob Woodward hailed Jon Karl as “unbiased” to promote Karl’s FOURTH anti-Trump book. The network reported that Letitia James was indicted by “Trump’s handpicked U.S. attorney” (unlike…every other U.S. attorney who is handpicked by a president) and ignored that James was indicted by a federal grand jury. The network wept over trees taken down at the White House, and then reported Trump would name the ballroom after himself… while quoting him saying he would not name the ballroom after himself.

CNN – The new female prime minister of Japan had to be described as a right-wing extremist and a “hardline conservative” (terms never used for politicians on the Left). Jake Tapper’s redistricting talking points were obliterated by Arnold Schwarzenegger. While looking angrily over President Trump’s ballroom project, the network was swooning when Barack Obama spent hundreds of millions on White House renovations.  The outlet announced it was set to offer yet another attempt at premium subscription services, as ratings for its free content continue to erode.

        THE WINNER

MSNBC

With plenty of content being tossed around by many outlets, MSNBC made itself distinguished with particularly stunted hot takes on a number of issues.

The geniuses on the Morning Joe panel were concerned that Abigail Spanberger faced the challenge of sexism in her election – while running against another female.

As the controversy of Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner being found with a Nazi tattoo emerged, MSNBC managed to talk around the topic, while never addressing the actual issue of his being a Nazi sympathizer.

Jen Psaki insulted Usha Vance as a helpless hostage in her marriage to Vice President Vance, whom she called worse than Trump.

Kurt Andersen guested on Morning Joe to compare the East Wing demolition to terrorism or a war scene.

Jon Meacham declared the ballroom renovation was grounds to stage a revolution in the country

Alicia Menezdez and Tom Nichols agree that the military taking out drug boats in Venezuela means Trump will soon target U.S. citizens.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
