The Trump administration is preparing to release the infamous audio of Joe Biden's 2023 interview with then-special counsel Robert Hur. According to Politico's Dasha Burns, multiple Republicans were "briefed" by White House officials on the plan, which would be to fulfill ongoing Freedom of Information Act requests.

The Biden White House worked overtime to keep all this under lock and key, ensuring it wouldn't be released before the 2024 election.

In the aftermath of the interview, which pertained to Biden's illegal possession of classified materials, the audio was rumored to have been a horror show of senility. At one point, the former president even forgot what year his son died. When that revelation became public, the Biden administration tried to spin it as Hur being a jerk, asking about something that shouldn't have been asked about. That turned out to be a lie when the transcript showed that it was Biden who randomly brought it up.

Hur would go on to testify before Congress that Biden was experiencing noticeable memory loss issues while being questioned. That led Democrats to lash out, accusing the special counsel of acting politically. If that were true, all the Biden administration had to do was release the audio to prove how vibrant and sentient the former president supposedly was. As mentioned above, that never happened because the White House blocked it.

Given how this has all played out, you'd think our stalwart journalistic class would be supportive of the release. After all, I've been assured that transparency is a good thing, and exposing the biggest presidential cover-up in history would seem like a pretty big story. But nope, they are lashing out, making sarcastic remarks.

Stephen Miller (no, not that one, the other one) justifiably roasted David Weigel for his post.

I think the implication here is that mainstream media journalists don't want this stuff to come out because they were complicit in the cover-up. Most of them spent years on end accusing conservatives of "cheap fakes" and pushing falsehoods about Biden's senility, only for them to turn on a dime after his disastrous debate made that position untenable. If this audio is released, it will be embarrassing to a press that refused to do its job at the time and still has no interest in doing it now.
