Scott Jennings Roasts Democrats for Embarrassing, Pathetic Behavior During Trump Address

Putting aside actual election nights, has a political party come away more diminished, embarrassed, and bruised from a single event than the Democratic Party did after President Donald Trump's congressional address on Tuesday? I've seen some self-destructive tendencies in my day, but what transpired was something else.

As RedState reported, things touched off with Democrats attempting to shut down Trump's speech, shouting and moaning for several minutes as Speaker Mike Johnson repeatedly called for order. Eventually, the Sergeant at Arms was brought in, and Rep. Al Green was removed from the chamber. And while that may have been the most explosive moment of the night, it was not even close to the most disgusting and deranged.

Repeatedly, Democrats refused to stand and acknowledge non-partisan special guests, including a child who is battling cancer and the mother of a released Russian hostage. They also didn't react to the announcement that one of the terrorists behind the Abbey Gate bombing that occurred during Joe Biden's disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal had been captured and was being flown to the United States to stand trial.

What did Democrats choose to applaud? Well, Sen. Elizabeth Warren laughed and clapped when Trump asked if she'd like the war in Ukraine to continue for five more years. So yeah, Democrat behavior ranged from ill-advised to downright psychotic, and that wasn't lost on CNN's Scott Jennings.

Following Sen. Elissa Slotkin's televised rebuttal to Trump's speech, Jennings dismissed the idea that she had saved the night, correctly noting that all anyone will remember is what happened beforehand.

JENNINGS: I mean, look, I'm sure she's a very nice person. None of this will be remembered because this was a horrific night for the opposition party regardless of how well she just spoke. It started out with Al Green getting thrown off the House floor because he couldn't get his emotions under control. Then they had the ridiculous paddles that social media is now roasting...

BURNETT: That you said false on one side and Elon on the other...

JENNINGS: And finally, and maybe most terribly, the Democrats who couldn't find it in their heart to stand for objectively good things, including the 95-year-old mother of Mark Fogel, who got rescued from a Russian prison, and they couldn't even stand up for that. I thought Democrats came into this speech lost and defeated by Donald Trump, and today, it looks to me like they're even more lost and more defeated than when this speech started.

I don't know much about Slotkin other than she seems like your typical left-wing Democrat who falsely pretends to be a moderate, but Jennings is correct that absolutely no one will care what she said. By the time her rebuttal started, we had already had hours of Democrat insanity plastered across every broadcast and cable news network in existence. There was no walking back what had transpired because Americans know Slotkin's scripted speech was not reality. The real Democratic Party is what they saw on the House floor, and there's no hiding that at this point.

Jasmine Crockett, Elizabeth Warren, Al Green, Pramila Jaypal, Ilhan Omar, and every other radical that showed their backside on Tuesday night are who the Democratic Party is. They have the power. They dictate the policies. They dictate the messaging. Slotkin's attempt to repaint Democrats as some return to the Bill Clinton era was laughable in that context.

And to not even applaud a child with cancer being made an honorary Secret Service agent? What in the world? Who is advising these people? On second thought, that's a dumb question because there's no advisor in the world with enough sway to stop the Democratic Party from melting down over Donald Trump. It's an impossible task, so the embarrassment will continue. I feel like I'm watching a car crash in slow motion on repeat.
