When Vice President Kamala Harris lost the 2024 election to now-incoming President Donald Trump, there was a brief moment of clarity within the Democratic Party. You had to squint at times to see it, but concerns about having moved too far left, a reality optimized by Harris' nomination, were being voiced. 

Some even openly pondered whether it was such a great idea to go with someone who promoted taxpayer-funded sex change operations for federal prisoners and decriminalization of illegal immigration. But as expected, it didn't take long for the status quo to return. 

MSNBC's Jen Psaki led the way in mid-November by chastizing Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA), who had dared to suggest post-election that he didn't want his daughters having to play sports against boys. It was all downhill from there, and to say the Democratic Party has doubled down on left-wing insanity would be an understatement.

It's not just ideology they are recycling, though. According to a new report, which includes several on-the-record quotes, DNC officials are already prepping a second run with Kamala Harris in 2028. To justify that, they are showcasing levels of delusion that are hard to explain. 

“I would be on board 100 percent with whatever she decides to do. I think she is a phenomenal person. I think she was a phenomenal candidate,” said Yvette Lewis, a member of the Democratic National Committee’s executive panel. “We were able to turn things around so quickly, and that’s a testament to her."                                                                                  

At a confab of DNC members last week, no party officials outright dismissed the idea of another Harris campaign, and some said they were willing to back her if she ran again.

Shasti Conrad, chair of the Washington Democratic Party who was also at the event, said, “I certainly was so proud to support her and would love to do it again.”

That's like saying you'd "love" to receive a swift kick in the head again. On what planet were Democrats "able to turn things around so quickly?" Because last I checked, Harris was handed over one billion dollars along with slobbering coverage from the national press and she still lost. Not only did she lose the election, but she lost the popular vote to Donald Trump, something few thought was even possible when Joe Biden was in the race.

Does that sound like a "phenomenal candidate" to you? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Democrats trotting out the worst presidential nominee of all time again in 2028, but on a base level, I'm trying to understand the logic here. 

Harris’ advisers and allies believe that she ran a strong campaign, earning 75 million votes, boosting her favorability rating, breaking fundraising records and narrowing the polling gap that, in their view, she inherited from Biden.     

Biden only stepped down after a disastrous debate with Donald Trump in June forced him out of the race. That left Harris with only about 100 days to run a campaign.

The "she only had 100 days to run a campaign" excuse seems to be the go-to for Democrats. What's left unsaid is that the timeframe worked to her advantage. Presidential nominees, presumptive or official, usually have to spend lots of money throughout the spring and summer. Harris was able to walk into the heart of campaign season with a billion dollars and the chance to maximize the impact of every dollar. She also had the benefit of pushing all her failures off on Joe Biden. 

What was the result? The more the American people saw her, the worse her prospects got. Despite a brief honeymoon period in August and into September, Harris was bottoming out by the time election day rolled around. What evidence is there that giving her another three to four months would have changed anything? I'd posit that had Harris gotten the full campaign cycle as the nominee, she would have done even worse. 

Here's the big problem. If a party is going to give someone a second bite at the apple after losing, that person needs to be special. Love or hate Donald Trump, but there is no doubt he's a political phenom. He had also already won the presidency once and had a dedicated base of support. 

What does Harris offer? Is it the vapid word salads? The inability to answer basic questions? The complete lack of a political foundation? The fact that she represents every aspect of left-wing lunacy that led to Trump regaining the White House? I don't get it. Of course, I'm not a Democrat so I highly encourage them to follow through with this plan. Harris 2028.
