Joe Biden Takes a Baseball Bat to Kamala Harris' Campaign Narrative

If Joe Biden wanted Kamala Harris to lose, what would he be doing differently? That's a question worth asking after the president once again took a baseball bat to his vice president's campaign for the White House.

Since Harris shoved Biden under the bus and announced her presidential run, she has been desperately trying to separate herself from the administration she serves in. Numerous times, she's quipped that she's "obviously not Joe Biden" while her allies in the press have repeatedly asserted that the vice president has no power and is not responsible for any of the failures of the last four years.

For his part, Biden just keeps tearing down that narrative in no uncertain terms. On Friday, he showed up in the White House briefing room and again reiterated that Harris owns every part of the administration's policies and decision-making. For context, he did the same thing while appearing on "The View" in late September, claiming that he had delegated most tasks to the vice president.

Biden WH Briefing: Tone Deaf on Hurricane, Feeds Netanyahu Conspiracy Theory, Throws Kamala Under Bus

REPORTER: There have obviously been a number of crises that the country has been facing over the past several days, with the hurricane, with the port strike, with the situation in the Middle East. Can you talk about how your vice president, who is running for the presidency, has worked on these crises and what role she has played over the past several days.

BIDEN: Well, she's, I'm in constant contact with her. She's aware, we're all, we're singing from the same song sheet. We, she helped pass all the laws that are being deployed now. She was a major player in everything we've done, including passage of legislation we were told we could never pass. And she's been, and, her staff is interlocked with mine in terms of all the things we're doing.

Harris is caught between a rock and a hard place. She is the vice president of a failed administration that is despised by most Americans. Yet, she has to present herself as a fresh-faced bringer of "joy," completely disconnected from those failures. Harris can't do that if Biden keeps going around announcing to the world that she's just as culpable for everything as he is.

Is it any wonder that people are speculating he wants her to lose at this point?

If there's one thing we know about Biden, it's that he's a petty, vindictive man. After being forced out of the presidential race by his supposed allies, he's made several comments indicating that he feels betrayed and that he thinks he would have beaten Donald Trump. Is it really that far-fetched that he might want Harris to lose so he can say, "I told you so?" I don't think it is. On the contrary, it strikes me as exactly the kind of person he is.

Biden has had ample opportunity at this point to help elevate Harris in what is already a tough race. Instead, he's repeatedly countered her campaign's narrative and not taken basic actions that could improve the environment she's running in. It's getting hard to believe it's not purposeful.

Biden is a fast-declining 81-year-old. What does he care if Trump wins another term? And if that happens, the current president gets to spend his waning days rubbing it in the faces of those who stabbed him in the back. I'm not saying for certain that's what's going on, but it sure feels like that's what's going on.
