Have you ever stumbled upon a news story and come away still not having any idea what's going on? That's how I felt after diving down the rabbit hole that is the "Ambassador of the Bronx" and her recent arrest in Florida.

The saga centers on a Latin singer named Cecilia Selina Mercado. How famous she is remains a bit of a mystery. She has a couple of hundred thousand followers on Instagram, but as a supposed celebrity goes, that's not much on that platform. Based on what's in the videos I'm about to share, she does have money, though.

Regardless, Mercado, a New Yorker who goes by the stage name "Sessi," decided it'd be a great idea to drive around Florida with "diplomatic plates" on her Audi. The problem? They were fake, and she quickly learned her games don't work in the Sunshine State.

Miami-based WSVN 7 News has the video of the encounter, and if you think the beginning is weird, wait around until the end, because things get a lot weirder.

The initial traffic stop, which was caught on video, was executed due to an illegal turn and Mercado's plates coming back fake. During the exchange of words, you can hear the singer's boyfriend shouting that she's not a U.S. citizen as a way to claim she has "diplomatic immunity." After refusing to comply and exit the vehicle, she is then yanked out of the car and onto her backside by police and arrested.

A day later, her bond was posted and Mercado was released from jail. That's when a Maybach pulled into the parking lot to pick her up. She was then driven back to Sunny Isles where she was pulled over again. Why? Because the Maybach also had fake diplomatic plates.

Her driver chose not to comply when commanded to exit the vehicle, refusing to even open the door. Police eventually smashed the window with guns drawn and forcibly removed him, placing him under arrest. He didn't have a driver's license and a stash of guns was found in the car. That was all caught on video as well and can be seen at the end of the above video. Mercado can be heard asking the police, "Why are you doing this."

So what actually happened here? I'm just as confused as when I first read the details. Why is a Latin singer from New York driving around with fake diplomatic plates in Florida? Why does she claim to be the "Ambassador of the Bronx," which doesn't even make sense? Why did she lie about not being a U.S. citizen? Why did her driver not even have a license? Why were there multiple guns in the car?

Whatever the answers to those questions, it looks like Mercado learned a valuable lesson: Florida isn't New York, and what passes muster in the Northeast doesn't down South.
