Reporter Tries to Claim James Comer Has 'No Evidence' Against Joe Biden, and He Was Having None of It

On Wednesday, a dramatic scene unfolded on Capitol Hill after Hunter Biden showed up outside the Capitol Building to give a surprise press conference. Once he was finished gaslighting the public about his business dealings and moving the goalposts concerning his father, the president's son then left, refusing to comply with a lawfully issued congressional subpoena.

Rep. James Comer, who heads up the House Oversight Committee, spoke to the press immediately after, defending the investigation into the Biden family's alleged corruption. At one point, a reporter from The Washington Post tried to claim that the committee had "no evidence" that Joe Biden was involved at any level. Comer was having none of it

“But Chairman Comer, do you acknowledge that you haven’t answered that question and that you’ve found no evidence of wrongdoing or criminal conduct?” Washington Post congressional investigations reporter Jacqueline Alemany asked Comer in response.

“We’ve found some very serious evidence that—” Comer began to answer. “But Joe Biden—” the reporter interrupted.

“No, no, no, no. The checks. There’s two checks to Joe Biden from his brother that the money to give Joe Biden was influence-peddling. One was through—no, you asked a question. No, no, listen.”

Immediately, the reporter morphed into a spokesperson for the White House, claiming that the checks in question were "law firm" money even though no actual legal services were being rendered and the money came from CEFC Energy, a Chinese-controlled entity. Some of Hunter Biden's former business associates have faced FARA violation charges for taking money from the company, though the president's son has thus far avoided the same fate. The reporter pretending that the money paid to Biden simply came from a legitimate law firm is gaslighting of the highest order.

Comer snapped back, noting the questions surrounding the entire arrangement.

“What do you think? You’re defending him. I mean you’re acting as if—are you positive that that money came from Joe Biden?” Comer asked. “You’ve raised it. Are you positive? No.”

It remains comical to me that the press is attempting to act like the mountain of evidence against Joe Biden simply doesn't exist. Imagine a world in which Democrats had phone calls, personal meetings, an FBI FD-1023, and even actual checks written to Donald Trump connecting him to a corruption scheme being carried out by one of his sons. Do you think the Post would have reporters playing defense for him? Do you think all those connections would be dismissed as "no evidence?"

The answer is obviously no. There would already have been a vote on impeachment if we were talking about Trump, and everyone knows it. So what exactly is the press doing here? Do they really think we are that stupid? I suppose they do, and hopefully, with a vote set to occur on Wednesday, Republicans prove them wrong by voting to officially open an impeachment inquiry.
