CNN Has a Coping Session After 'Journalists' Suspended

As RedState reported on Thursday night, multiple “journalists” were suspended from Twitter for posting a link to a site that shows the location of Elon Musk’s jets. The social media site had recently updated its TOS to consider that action doxxing and had warned that posting links to “ElonJets,” the site in question, would result in a suspension.

In other words, even if one disagrees with how things were handled, it’s pretty clear that those who were suspended did violate the TOS. The only real change here is enforcement.

For years, left-wing figures, including “journalists” of that persuasion, have been allowed to flaunt the TOS, seemingly immune to any and all enforcement action. Meanwhile, conservative accounts were banned for saying “learn to code” and for posting links to truthful stories (i.e. the Hunter Biden laptop).

You might think that this episode would open some eyes in the mainstream media. Perhaps they’d realize they made a mistake by cheerleading suspensions of conservative accounts in the past for things that didn’t deserve a suspension. But nope, they are being abject hypocrites with less self-awareness than a kumquat.

CNN never came to the defense of The New York Post when it was banned for breaking the Hunter Biden laptop story. Neither did any other legacy media outlet. But now that some hacks who aren’t even really journalists (Aaron Rupar is certainly not) get banned for breaking a clearly stated portion of the TOS, it’s a national emergency that requires reevaluation of the entire platform.

With all due respect, these people can go jump in a lake.

What makes CNN’s reaction all the more absurd is that it was just days removed from them fluffing the idea that Yoel Roth, Twitter’s former censorship czar, had to flee his home due to legitimate criticism. Yet, when it comes to Musk actually being doxxed, they don’t apply nearly the same concern. I wonder why?

Reasonable people can disagree over whether Musk acted too rashly in updating the TOS and then starting suspensions the next day for those that broke it. That’s another argument, mostly to be had by those on the right who have maintained some level of consistency on the topic.

On the other hand, outlets like CNN have no leg to stand on. They were all-in on the old Twitter regime’s censorship regime when it benefited them. Now, they want to scream bloody murder when the rules are finally applied equally. Yeah, I feel no sympathy on that front.
