For those of you who were waiting with bated breath for Joe Biden to chime in on the issue of transgenderism and children, the wait is over. The president put out a video that was essentially a response to Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law in which he implored parents to “affirm” their child’s “identity.”

The New York Post provides some of the excerpts.

“To everyone celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility, I want you to know that your president sees you — Jill, Kamala, Doug, our entire administration sees you — for who you are: made an image of God and deserving of dignity, respect and support,” Biden said in a video message name-checking the first lady, vice president and second gentleman.

Let’s stop right there. Yes, it’s true that transgender individuals are made in the image of God. It’s also true that everyone is made in the image of God. That doesn’t legitimatize all human behavior and decision-making as Godly. I knew Joe Biden was a fair-weather Catholic, but you’d expect him to have a slightly deeper understanding of God’s will than “A person says something so that something must be holy and just.”

That’s the dumb part of the headline, after which Biden then got to the disturbing part. When specifically addressing parents and children, this is what he had to say.

He continued, “To parents of transgender children, affirming your child’s identity is one of the most powerful things you can do to keep them safe and healthy. Any transgender American who’s struggling, please know you’re not alone.”

The president ended the video by saying, “You’re so brave. You belong and we have your back.”

I find this argument incredibly harmful. Children are not capable of making life-changing determinations about their “identity” because (and stick with me here) they are children. It is asinine to suggest that a 10-year-old has the capacity, forethought, and good judgment to decide they are another sex/gender than they actually are. In a more sane time, entertaining such delusion would be considered child abuse. Now, the transitioning of children is not only a mainstream political idea, but it’s a booming business for doctors looking to make a buck off their radial viewpoints.

Let’s also talk about Biden’s assertion that “we have your back,” which operates as a wink and a nod for children to defy their parents. Children are not the wards of government figures. Rather, they have actual parents who are responsible for their safety, instilling values, and raising them up in ways that aren’t harmful. My children do not belong to Joe Biden nor any other member of the state.

The explosion of “transgenderism” among the youngest generation is not an accident or a natural occurrence. The biological and mental realities of human beings did not suddenly change compared to prior generations. Rather, a relentless onslaught of far-left gender propaganda meant to indoctrinate and convert children has caused it. Worse, that movement exists almost solely to reinforce the delusions of adults who want to see their worldview affirmed no matter what.

So no, parents shouldn’t just “affirm” a child who thinks they are different sex any more than they would if a child said they are a horse. Objective reality matters, but there are also extremely harmful aspects to allowing a child to pursue transgenderism, a transition they never would have even had a concept of if it weren’t for adults seeking their own affirmation. If a child goes on to become an adult and wishes to pursue such, that’s on them. But as long a child is a child, they should be given the help they need, not pushed into destructive, irreversible behavior.

And let’s be real. Joe Biden is a nearly 80-year-old man. He doesn’t actually believe the stuff he’s saying. He’s just saying what he’s told. That makes it all the worse because not only is he promoting damaging behavior for children, but he’s too cowardly to speak against it.
