While people struggle with irrational mandates and job losses throughout the country due to the coronavirus, our supposed betters gathered for the annual Met Gala in New York City this week. But while hideous, over-indulgence was to be expected, one person took top billing for a sheer lack of self-awareness.
That would be Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who showed up in a “Tax the Rich” dress. And while she’s been thoroughly lambasted in response for her hypocrisy, this is politics we are talking about so things can always get more absurd. They did just that over the last day.
To start, apparently, the designer who footed the bill for AOC’s $30,000+ ticket and gave her the “Tax the Rich” dress is a tax cheat. You can’t make this stuff up.
The ‘Tax the Rich’ dress designer whom @AOC went to the Met Gala with:
• Owes $103,220 in back taxes
• Received $41,666 in PPP
• Has ‘legions’ of unpaid interns
• Owes $62,722 in workers comp
• Still found $250,000 for a table at the Met Galahttps://t.co/yXsU5eqKwi— Frank Luntz (@FrankLuntz) September 18, 2021
The hypocrisy is the point. These people do not actually believe a word of what they are saying, and that goes for AOC herself. Rather, they see government policy as a platform to virtue signal their supposed superior moral standing. But when push comes to shove, they are going to make sure they get to live like kings while you suffer.
Case in point? Vogue released footage of AOC getting ready for the gala. Apparently, she not only had multiple servants, but they were even putting her shoes on for her.
In new video from Vogue, AOC and her boyfriend passed through a large team of masked servants — all while they remain mask-free indoors — as they prepared to attend a ball like the Prince and Princess of Wales.

For me, what’s in that video is really the biggest problem here. Forget the hypocrisy over AOC living like she’s rich while stumping to tax the rich to the fawning cheers of the rich. That’s the kind of absurdity is be expected, and to a certain extent, at least it doesn’t affect the everyday lives of normal Americans.
But the COVID aspect of this is just gaudy. AOC has been a chief purveyor of coronavirus hysteria, claiming she’s going to keep wearing a mask after being vaccinated while supporting things like vaccine passports and mask mandates. Yet, the moment it’s time to rub shoulders with celebrities and pose for magazine spreads, the mask comes off and all concern for COVID disappears. Meanwhile, her servants are all masked up in order to protect the precious.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a more stark example of how terrible our political class is, and AOC represents the very worst of what Washington has to offer. None of this stops until people stop complying. Take note of the fact that the people who are telling you to care about COVID the most, up to and including crushing individual rights, do not actually care about COVID. Respond accordingly.
