Over the last year, I’ve tried to be fair to Dr. Anthony Fauci. I understand that a situation like the current pandemic is unpredictable and that even well thought out positions can often be wrong. But what I’ve never had patience for is arrogance in failure from bureaucrats who we have no way of holding to account because it takes an act of God to remove a government employee.
Dr. Fauci is now at that place. He doesn’t deserve to have his job anymore, leaving a string of highly damaging failures in his wake which he’s now couching in an incredibly insulting arrogance.
Here’s one of his latest whoppers.
Seriously? Dr. Fauci says he can’t think of any reason there would be “excess deaths” this year besides Covid pic.twitter.com/VsEjSvIptK

Dr. Fauci isn’t stupid, he just thinks you are.
Think about how much intellectual dishonesty it takes to go on CNN, a network that is working non-stop to discredit the President over everything, but especially the coronavirus, to spew such easily disprovable nonsense. There are not just a few reasons why this year would include excess deaths outside of COVID. There are a multitude of reasons and factors which were completely self-inflicted. They also happened to have been championed and pushed into existence by Fauci himself.
We shut the entire country down for months on end, a tactic Fauci still endorses and wants to execute even now, with some states still being largely closed down to this day. We’ve already seen studies showing huge spikes in suicide rates. But even looking past the aspects of mental illness caused by locking people in their homes, there are plenty of other, more innocuous risks in play that were exacerbated by the lockdowns.
For example, how many people have died of or are going to die of cancer this year because they missed routine screenings? Every day counts in such battles, but we shut down elective and preventive medicine until the mid-summer in most parts of the country. And while people missed chemo treatments, there are far more examples aside from just cancer. All manner of sometimes preventable illnesses were neglected, no doubt leading to far more people ended up in a terminal state than would have otherwise happened.
Let’s also note things like increased domestic violence deaths, violent crime deaths, and drug and alcohol-related deaths which we know have been prevalent during the pandemic.
In short, Fauci’s comments that he can’t think of a single reason why we’d have excess deaths this year aside from COVID is not just ignorant, it’s also grossly vindictive. He knows better and he’s saying this stuff anyway because he wants to keep his 15 minutes going. This is his legacy. He wants to ensure his employment if Joe Biden wins, as well. The cynicism on display in Fauci’s continued cable news hits is disgusting because these are real lives that were ruined by his policy prescriptions.
But instead of showing humility, he just doubles down and pretends he’s been right all along. That’s not the kind of person who should be anymore near the White House task force. Trump should have removed him months ago, political consequences be damned.
