How is this not the biggest story in the country? I think we all know how.
Janice Dean, who’s been a mainstay as the senior meteorologist on Fox News for years, appeared on Tucker Carlson last night. This time it wasn’t to give the weather or crack a few jokes in her typical style, but to share the pain and loss she and her family have suffered due to the Wuhan virus. Her husband lost both of his parents in nursing homes during the outbreak, tragic enough on its own. But the revelation that Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio were putting virus-positive patients back into these assisted living facilities by the thousands has made that much worse.
Here she is sharing her story last night.
Video: @JaniceDean is the best. Her strength and poise were inspiring. She spoke with #Tucker tonight about her late in-laws and the NY nursing home scandal that far too many corners of the news media have ignored in favor of hero worship for the Cuomo administration pic.twitter.com/ofLdCMq3JF

Dean described the situation with her in-laws, including why they were separated into two different facilities at the time. Her husband’s father was doing rehab, hoping to rejoin his wife shortly. In the meantime, Gov. Cuomo enacted a policy that forced nursing homes to take in coronavirus positive patients.
AP report: state of New York — ordered by governor Andrew Cuomo — sent over 4,300 elderly hospital patients sick with coronavirus back into nursing homes. This was like pouring gasoline on a fire, helps to explain why New York’s death toll has been so bad. https://t.co/etoNrtc0yw

Here’s the second part of my interview with @TuckerCarlson last night. Appreciate all the love, support and prayers you’ve been sending. My family is forever grateful. pic.twitter.com/hArI8BGes5

The deaths of Dean’s in-laws were highly preventable in this case and she’s not pulling punches. She went after CNN’s penchant for allowing Gov. Cuomo to joke around with his brother on air without being asked about the topic. That earned her some scorn from the usual suspects, but far more praise from those that realize she’s absolutely right to be angry.
This is absolutely the biggest story surrounding the coronavirus pandemic in the United States. Nothing has contributed to more deaths than governors’ mishandling nursing homes, and Gov. Cuomo is chief among those who screwed up here. But instead of condemnation, he’s receiving glowing praise and constant softball interviews from the media. When someone did finally manage to question him on it, he tried to blame President Trump for a policy he put in place. It’s infuriating.
Instead of making cotton swab jokes on CNN, Gov. Cuomo should be getting absolutely grilled right now. The fact that he’s not is just more proof of how useless our media establishment are.
