No one should fool themselves into thinking Morning Joe’s Mika Brzezinski is anything but a massive Joe Biden supporter, as Jennifer Van Laar covered last night. She’s said as much multiple times. Yet, she became the sacrificial lamb this morning after being chosen to ask Biden about the accusations of sexual assault against him.
After the interview was over, Brzezinski went to Twitter to try to soften the blow.
The interview with @JoeBiden was difficult, having known and greatly respected him for decades. (I still do.) The notion that all women are to be believed, which dominated the Kavanaugh hearings, was revisited. Should it be? Were Democrats wrong THEN or NOW?

To be clear, that interview and those questions had to happen. Someone in the media was going to have to get the former VP’s answer on record and his campaign knew it. The fact that it was one of the friendliest faces he could possibly answer to was all part of the plan. Everything we saw this morning was theater, though Biden is so terrible and mentally deficient at this point that he still managed to screw up several times.
For Brzezinski’s part, she’s now getting absolutely destroyed for what she likely saw as a service to the Biden campaign. Here are just a few of the responses to the above tweet.
She was utterly unprofessional + vile! Shame she didn’t manage an ounce of that towards Trump in the past when he was on their show but then she was busy sucking up!

Mika.. I am a survivor. I believe Biden. why DON'T you? bottom line, one reason I believe Biden – why on earth would she not have gone to this length when he was the VP candidate, and then VP twice?

Gimme a break, Mika. If THAT was her motive she would have told her story a year ago.
The false equivalency between Reade and Ford is exactly what undermines the #MeToo movement.

The lack of self-awareness and the ability to pretend that the Ford allegations were somehow different or more credible is pretty hilarious to see among the responders. Of course, Brzezinski is guilty of the same, having been one of the chief crusaders against Brett Kavanaugh at the time. She’s only reaping what she’s sowed here, so sympathy is not something most will be willing to give her.
Only now that Biden is in the hot seat does Brzezinski want to revisit the standards she previously created. It’s all very convenient and equally transparent. I’d also posit that as soon as a Republican is accused of something again, Brzezinski will default right back to the “believe all women” moniker.
Regardless, Biden’s interview this morning will be memory-holed by tomorrow. The political play here was always to get him on record, have the denial in hand, and then use that to say that he’s dealt with the issue. Tara Reade may never even get an interview with a mainstream media outlet at this rate, which is just an incredible thing given how quickly they put up Kavanaugh’s accusers without any vetting. By next week, no one outside of the conservative media will be talking about this story.
