Dr. Birx Finally Goes Right at the U.S. Media and China for Lying

This has been a long time coming. I understand the notion that figures like Dr. Deborah Birx should remain apolitical, and they should, but it’s not “political” to tell the truth about China lying and the U.S. media choosing to play useful idiots in response.

During yesterday’s presser, Dr. Birx finally took the gloves off and said what we’ve all been thinking. These ridiculous graphs relying on Chinese data that media members are sharing are garbage and dangerous.

It’s time to go on the offensive, and to some extent, the administration has already been doing that. The mainstream media do not get to re-frame this entire pandemic as the fault of the United States when it was China who lied and did this. They also do not get to pretend they were ahead of the curve while Trump dithered. That’s simply not true.

It’s disgusting that trying to find a journalist willing to directly blame China for this nonsense is like trying to find water in the desert. Their actions of continuing to repeat Chinese propaganda and take shots at the United States are profoundly harmful, not just in the short term, but in the long term as well. The communists are loving this. They love that the U.S. economy is faltering. They love that this has allowed them to regain ground in the South China Sea. They love that the WHO is doing their bidding. In the end, the Chinese see this pandemic as a massive opportunity.

Instead of reporting on that and holding them accountable, our media are too busy walking lockstep with them. The reality is that our high numbers are the result of two things. One, we are actually telling the truth. Two, we have administered more tests than any other country on earth. That means our absolute numbers will always be higher due to fairly uniform infection rates across the globe among countries locking down. These are factors that are necessarily easy to dissect and report on.

Dr. Birx making these statements is a good first step, but we need more. This is not the time for Trump to try to thread the needle with Xi or for Dr. Fauci to obfuscate blame when he goes on the Sunday shows. Let it be known exactly what China has done, and by virtue, exactly how awful the mainstream media are for doing their bidding.
