You know what you don’t do when you have a slam dunk impeachment case and the public behind you? You don’t rush to expand your case into a bunch already covered areas.

Yet, that’s exactly what the Democrats are looking to do.

House Democrats are debating whether to expand articles of impeachment to include charges beyond abuse of power in the Ukraine controversy, setting up a potential internal clash as the party races to impeach President Trump by Christmastime.

Members of the House Judiciary Committee and other more liberal-minded lawmakers and congressional aides have been privately discussing the possibility of drafting articles that include obstruction of justice or other “high crimes” they believe are clearly outlined in special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s report — or allegations that Trump has used his office to benefit his bottom line.

Going back to Robert Mueller and “muh Russia” just screams desperation at this point. To the vast majority of the country, those are settled issues, not worthy of impeaching the President. Why now? Why not six months ago? There’s very little chance dipping in that well again does anything but further turn off moderates who just want this garbage to stop.

Mueller’s report, as well as every other piece of evidence showed no collusion and asserting that mean tweets and exercising constitutional powers is “obstruction” simply won’t fly.

So why are they doing this? Because they’ve got nothing. They have a fairly mundane phone call where Trump suggest Ukraine look into 2016 corruption and issues with Biden and his son (which are legitimate), of which only beltway insiders see something vastly wrong in that. A majority of the rest of the country are shrugging and seeing nothing but political as usual.  The Democrat witnesses amount to people who didn’t actually witness anything, have no direct proof of anything, and who got their feelings hurt.

Meanwhile, more and more consternation is building among the Democrats who won in Trump districts in 2018. They see this for the failure it is and just want it over with. But the woke left aren’t going to let that happen. Nancy Pelosi let this cat out of the bag and now it’s going to rip her face off.
