The Democrat run House continues to flail about on impeachment, largely because they know most of the country doesn’t want it. But they want to have their cake and eat it to, as I chronicled last week, which means not actually voting to impeach but using committees to demand judges give them access as if articles of impeachment had passed. Whether they’ll find a judge willing to undermine legal standards to such a gross extent has yet to be determined.

The one leading this charge is Rep. Jerry Nadler. Famous for wearing his pants so high that he has to unzip to speak, he appeared on the Sunday shows yesterday to do his usual song and dance. That led to this confusing, irrational diatribe that completely gives the game away.

You see, Nadler absolutely, 100% knows that Trump is guilty and has violated the law “six ways from Sunday,” yet he needs more evidence before even taking the first step in impeachment. Wait, what?

To be clear, the actual trial in an impeachment happens in the Senate. The purpose of impeachment in the House is to act like a grand jury, recommending indictment. If Nadler has proof so damning that he can claim definitely that Trump has committed crimes six ways to Sunday, why does he need more evidence? What’s stopping him from publicly calling for the support he needs to pass articles of impeachment?

None of this makes sense and it’s not supposed to. The Democrats are scared to death of public opinion turning against them further, as impeachment is deeply unpopular among the American people. Nadler wants to go on the Sunday shows and scream about crimes being committed while not actually having to put his money where his mouth is. He’d be content to just “investigating” until the 2020 election because the assumption is that this can be used as an election bludgeon.

The problem for Democrats is that their base isn’t going to accept that.

Eventually, this will boil over. Nadler can only give so many bizarre, illogical rants trying to explain why Trump is Hitler but he won’t impeach. Pelosi has the most vocal parts of his caucus running to the cameras daily demanding impeachment. Noway does the dam hold for another year.

Democratic party leadership created this monster, thinking they could control it. They can’t and it’s going to backfire on them in a big way.
