Carter Page Says He Wasn't Even Interviewed for the Coming IG Report

This seems odd if it can be confirmed.

Carter Page, the man at the center of the FISA warrant that spawned the current Inspector General investigation into possible misconduct at the FBI/DOJ, is saying that IG Horowitz did not even interview him.

Page was of course targeted by the FBI in 2016 and was the subject of four FISA warrants (or one warrant with three renewals depending on how you wish to describe it). Evidence has mounted over the last several years that the ridiculous and non-credible “Steele dossier” formed the vast majority of the evidence used to garner those warrants.

If it were just an honest mistake, there might be some wiggle room for the FBI. We know it wasn’t though. As I shared months ago, it was revealed that the FBI were warned weeks before seeking the warrant that Steele’s primary source was not credible and had lied previously.

Despite being warned by the State Department, the FBI chose to push forward with using the Steele dossier as the basis for not only the FISA warrant, but a significant amount of their investigative claims in the entirety of the Trump-Russia investigation. In fact, despite it clearly being unverified and largely discredited months beforehand, James Comey chose to present the dossier to Trump anyway in early 2017.

Carter Page was accused of  being a Russian agent for years, slandered constantly in the media, and generally had his life destroyed over this. Why wouldn’t Horowitz want to interview him and get his side of the story? It’d be important to know how the FBI handled him throughout the ordeal.

There is the possibility that Horowitz didn’t want any outside factors to influence what is an internal investigation, but I’m not sure I buy that. If the primary target of what you are investigating offers to talk, you’d think Horowitz would at least hear what he has to say.

We’ll see where this goes.
