A Major Democrat Figure Is About to Join the Race for 2020

I’ve lost count of the number of people running for President on the Democrat side at this point. It’s well over 20 and we are about to see another name added to the list if new reports pan out.

Billionaire and liberal sugar daddy Tom Steyer is telling allies he’s going to jump into the 2020 Democrat primary and he will reportedly make his announcement tomorrow.

The billionaire investor Tom Steyer, who in the past decade has been both the top Democratic donor in the country and the prime engine for pushing for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, appears ready to become Democratic candidate No. 26. Last week in San Francisco, Steyer told staffers at two progressive organizations he funds, Need to Impeach and NextGen America, that he is launching a 2020 campaign, and that he plans to make the formal announcement this Tuesday.

Politico is reporting the same thing but with a bit more certainty.

Tom Steyer, the billionaire environmental activist who toyed with a 2020 presidential run before deciding against it, has told people he plans to announce that he’s entering the race for the Democratic nomination, according to three people familiar with his plans. Steyer had said in January that he was passing on a 2020 run.

Steyer held a private conference call last week to announce to people who work for Need to Impeach, NextGen America and Steyer’s Sacramento office that he was planning to run, according to one of the people.

Steyer is most famous for putting bags of cash into piles and setting them on fire. He’s been the money man behind a lot of the efforts to impeach Donald Trump and has shown himself to be your typical liberal conspiracy theorist. He was also the money behind Andrew Gillum, who would go on to lose a race he was favored to win in Florida last year. Republican Ron DeSantis proved victorious after a contentious campaign.

Back in January, Steyer claimed that he wouldn’t run for President because he felt what he wanted was already being represented by other candidates, but ego is a funny thing. He’s apparently reconsidered and wants a piece of the action. The risk for the other Democrats is that Steyer can drop tens of millions on his own campaign without blinking an eye. He can flood the airways and internet with ads, basically buying his way to a high profile in the race. Whether that’ll translate to actual voter support is up for debate.

Steyer’s political views are exactly what you’d expect. He’s a major, major booster of global warming hysteria. His economics are in line with the rest of the Democratic field. Oh, and he hates Donald Trump with the fire of a thousand suns, so that box is checked as well.

I don’t see Steyer doing anything but adding to the chaos. Still, like a demolition derby, there’s something satisfying about watching the carnage.
