Two Fort Worth, Texas, police officers have come under fire for threatening to ticket a Christian street preacher and a former fed at a Trinity Pride Fest event. Their crime? Their speech might “offend” someone.
Either this pair never went to high school, or their educators just skipped over all that pesky “Constitution” stuff.
The first name of this female officer is Sarah (last name Stogner), but it should be “Karen.” Watch:

The back-and-forth is unbelievable; it’s disturbing to think this went down in Texas, of all places. Even though the movement Blue Lives Matter is pro-police, they were nevertheless disgusted by this anti-First Amendment display, as they wrote in the above tweet:

A female Fort Worth police officer was caught on camera threatening to ticket a retired federal law enforcement officer and Christian street preacher for “offensive speech.”
The officer told the man that if someone is offended by his preaching, then “we have a problem” and said she would issue him a ticket. When he asked if she was really going to ticket him for offensive speech, she replied, “Yes, I am.”
This is a blatant violation of the First Amendment. Police officers do not have the authority to ticket people for speech that offends others. That is the exact opposite of how freedom of speech works in America.
The fact that this officer targeted a retired federal law enforcement officer who was simply preaching makes this even more unacceptable.
Departments that employ officers who openly disregard the Constitution need to clean house. This kind of behavior erodes public trust and makes every good officer’s job harder.

But wait, there’s more! Here, an officer gets lost in his own logic as a preacher nails him on his lack of knowledge. After discussing what the cop would consider a ticketable offense — basically, offending someone with your viewpoint — the preacher asks, “What if I'm offended by what they say? Like, they come up telling me this and that, swearing at me. Will they get cited?”
The poor cop looks like his brain is going to explode. “Are you offended?” he asks sheepishly.
Preacher: “Oh, I'm offended by all of this. I'm offended by seeing half-naked men running around with children. I am deeply offended by that.”
Officer (looking like he might start to cry): “Unfortunately, there's not much on our side to do anything [about that].”

This is absolutely INSANE. These cops are supposed to enforce the LAW.

The department said in a statement obtained by the Dallas Express: “The City of Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Police Department recognize that incidents involving First Amendment activity require thoughtful consideration and understanding of the law.” You think?
I felt a little bad for the male officer because he seemed like a nice enough guy, but he was simply intellectually out of his league. I feel no sympathy for the female cop in the first clip, however, not because I’m sexist but because she was acting all Little Napoleon. Best to know what the heck you’re talking about if you’re going to go the high and mighty route.
Time to get educated, FWPD.
