Winning is always preferable to losing, but it’s even more satisfying when your opponents are obnoxious, self-important, America-hating lefties. Unfortunately, those types dominate many mainstream news outlets, and they’re very opposed to the idea of American exceptionalism or the notion that we can have nice things.
A triumphant celebration to honor the fact that Saturday, July 4, was the nation’s 250th birthday and that the Constitution we ratified in 1788 is the world’s longest‑serving written national constitution still in effect? Despicable — to them anyway. You can almost hear the whining and moaning when you read their tortured reactions to people enjoying themselves and understanding what a blessing it is to live in a free country.
Take this New York Times Karen, who, as our Nick Arama wrote, thinks we should tone things down because her having a quiet space is more important than noting one of the greatest achievements in history:

Oh, you poor dear. Never mind the reality that it was the United States that arguably prevented "the apocalypse" in World War II and the Cold War, and is hell-bent on preventing the maniacal Republic of Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Sorry, lady — I don’t believe you. I think you haven’t been able to stand the sight of red, white, and blue for a lot longer than since Trump and Vance came onto the scene. Trump is just your perfect excuse to justify your hate of the country, and allows you to criticize it in print. Try that in many nations around the world and see how well it turns out for you.

You mean he gave an Independence Day Speech, just like presidents do regularly on the holiday? The audacity!
Former “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd’s hair threatened to catch on fire, he was so triggered. He raged away on his podcast Saturday, before the celebrations were even complete:
Trump’s doing all of us a favor by selfishly trying to steal this anniversary from us. We now see who he really is. So no, it’s not the celebration we deserve. It’s not the one we could have had.
Trump is the convenient whipping post for all their anger, but the reality is they would have foamed at the mouth at any Republican leader who had happened to be in power on Saturday and who acknowledged the greatness of this country. That doesn’t fit their worldview. They prefer the Clintons and the Obamas and the Bidens, always telling us we suck.
Cry harder. We rock, and we showed it all weekend. Live with it.
