The San Diego mosque where two teenagers shot and killed three people Monday has a notorious past and has even been tied to several of the 9/11 attackers, according to multiple reports.
Amy Mek, founder of the RAIR Foundation USA (Rise Align Ignite Reclaim), posted to social media following the murderous spree, exposing the Islamic Center of San Diego’s disturbing history.
The Islamic Center of San Diego, the largest mosque in San Diego and located in the heart of Clairemont, California, was the scene of an active shooter incident today.

Her tweet continues:
I passionately denounce the violence that occurred today and do not support any violence against any innocent Americans or human beings anywhere.
That being said, she goes on to note that the ICSD has long been tied to radical Islamic terrorism:
I have long covered this mosque and am very familiar with its shocking, decades-long track record of terror ties (9/11 hijackers) and extremism.
🔺A 2005 investigation by the Center for Religious Freedom (Freedom House) identified the ICSD as one of only a handful of U.S. mosques found in possession of Saudi government-published “hate ideology” materials, extremist Wahhabi literature filled with calls for intolerance, hatred of non-Muslims, and jihad.
🔺A congressional inquiry into the 9/11 attacks revealed the FBI believed the San Diego mosque was responsible for laundering millions of dollars in cash from Saudi Arabia to the Al Barakat Trading Company and other businesses tied directly to Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda.

Mek also reports on the ties between the Center and two 9/11 hijackers, a story the NY Post noted as well:
Previously, the Islamic Center of San Diego made headlines for its connection to Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar.
Both hijackers reportedly prayed at the mosque and found an apartment nearby through advertisements at the mosque while taking flight lessons in the city.
Mek says that fellow worshippers helped the soon-to-be mass murderers obtain Social Security cards, driver’s licenses, and a place to stay.
The controversies don't all relate to the tragedy of 9/11, however — following the abhorrent Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack against Israel, the Center's director, Imam Taha Hassane, had this to say:
“This did not start last week or on October 7. This is the result of brutal Zionist occupation and genocide,” Hassane said in a video posted to social media days after the savage Hamas attack.
“Resistance is justified when people are under occupation and don’t let them change that narrative.”

Controversial Imam Taha Hassane - longtime Imam & Director of the Islamic Center of San Diego (since 2004) and CAIR California member/board affiliate.
In an October 20, 2023, sermon, just weeks after the Oct 7 Hamas massacre, he declared:
“When people are… pic.twitter.com/ZwGZ6HarXE
“When people are occupied, then the resistance is justified. We cannot accuse somebody who is fighting for his life to be a terrorist. The terrorist is the one who started the occupation, not the one who is defending himself.”
The imam's wife has also appeared to cheer on extremism and bloodshed:
His wife, Lallia Allali, posted a graphic image of a Star of David decapitating babies with the caption “The devil is killing” - classic blood libel. She resigned from her teaching position at the University of San Diego and her advisory role at the San Diego Union-Tribune amid the outrage.
The motive of the two shooters, who both allegedly killed themselves following the attacks, is still unknown as of this writing. The controversial history of the Islamic Center is known, however, and it’s quite simply… troubling.
Good for Mek and others for continuing to shine a light on it.
