Former Special Counsel Jack Smith — you know, the guy who spied on Republican lawmakers during his failed Arctic Frost probe into allegations that Donald Trump tried to rig the 2020 presidential election — is on Capitol Hill Thursday to face a grilling over what many observers contend was his overt effort to weaponize the Department of Justice and do anything necessary to “get” Donald Trump.
GOP Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (OH-04) was there for it, and he came fired up and ready for verbal combat. We shouldn’t forget the excesses of Smith, he argued:
“We should never forget what took place, what they did to the guy ‘We the People’ elected president twice,” Jordan said, referring to Trump. “The good news is, the American people saw through it.”
Smith, who seems to have the pulse of a giant sloth, mostly just seemed to sit there and listen impassively as Jordan eviscerated his performance. Jordan, meanwhile — who was spied on by Smith — is always high energy, and he came with the heat on this day.

They noted that Smith’s investigation opened just days after Trump announced his 2024 presidential bid, and reminded everyone that the DOJ raided his house and his wife’s lingerie drawer:

Testimony is ongoing as of this writing. Expect more fireworks as the Democrats lamely try to prop up Smith and convince the public that he didn’t run wild with his power. Of course, the receipts show he pushed the ethical wall far past the point of breaking.
