The Democrats have been obsessing over the events of Jan. 6 for five straight years and have campaigned on their phony “insurrectionist” theme for all that time while offering precious little in the way of ideas and policies that would improve the lives of Americans.
Their “January 6 Committee” was a one-sided farce where grandstanders like former GOP Reps. Cryin' Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) and Liz Cheney (WY-AL) preened for the cameras in what they hoped would be their 15 minutes of fame. Thousands were jailed and woefully overcharged for their part in the protests, and Democrats still push false storylines to this day (like the one alleging that law enforcement officers were killed at the Capitol, when none were).
The Trump administration isn’t taking today’s fifth anniversary lying down, and on Tuesday, they issued a new website disputing many of the Democrats' claims and slamming then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA-11) for not securing the Capitol.
Thousands of Americans paid the price for failures they didn't create.

In the first paragraph of the new site, the White House defended Trump’s pardons in no uncertain terms (emphasis theirs):
President Trump took decisive action to pardon January 6 defendants who were unfairly targeted, overcharged, and used as political examples. They were not protected by the leaders who failed them. They were punished to cover incompetence.
On his first day back in office, January 20, 2025, President Trump issued sweeping blanket pardons and commutations for nearly 1,600 patriotic Americans prosecuted for their presence at the Capitol—many mere trespassers or peaceful protesters treated as insurrectionists by a weaponized Biden DOJ. He fully pardoned most, commuted sentences, and ordered immediate release of those still imprisoned, ending years of harsh solitary confinement, denied due process, and family separation for exercising their First Amendment rights.

The website also hits back at the mainstream media/Democrat version of the timeline of what happened:
The new site boasts the historic date with black and white images of Democrats and others who investigated the breach, a timeline of Trump supporters gathering in Washington, D.C., ahead of and after the breach, and how the House Administration Subcommittee’s Interim Report reviewing the breach uncovered "critical security failures on January 6, 2021, that were largely due to politicized decisions by Democratic leadership and the Pentagon..."
The website's timeline of Jan. 6, 2021, kicks off with Trump's "call to action" for Americans to travel to Washington, D.C., "for a peaceful and historic demonstration."
The timeline walks users through the events of the day, including excerpts focused on: "President Trump Delivers Powerful Speech," "Patriots March to the Capitol," "Capitol Police Response Escalates Tensions," "President Trump Urges Calm," and "Leaked Pelosi Video Exposes Security Lapses."
The website goes after Pelosi, reminding her that she basically admitted fault for the total security breakdown that put people in danger. From the site:
Video and audio recordings, including unaired HBO footage from her own daughter, show Nancy Pelosi repeatedly acknowledging responsibility for the catastrophic security failures—admitting “We have totally failed” and “I take full responsibility” for not having the National Guard pre-deployed, despite intelligence warnings and President Trump’s offers of troops that were ignored under her leadership as Speaker.

Check out the website; there’s plenty more to it. In the meantime, expect Democrats to continue to obsess over Jan. 6, even though the facts have never supported their “insurrection” narrative and the majority of voters have never bought into it.
Why do they cling to that day with such ferocity? Because they have little else to offer the American people.
