Update 6/17/25: The ambassador has released a statement saying he was talking about actions Israel had already taken, not future ones. I’ll let readers decide if that gels with his original statement.

He wrote:

To be clear: When I was asked about future operations against Iran, I said that we have “already pulled off a number of surprises at the beginning of the operation,” and when the dust settles on the start of the operation “Last Thursday and Friday,” those surprises will become evident.

Original Story:

As the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran rages on, Israeli ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter told Merit TV Monday:

Expect a surprise later this week.

Let’s just say the world will understand how serious we are about stopping Iran’s capabilities — and not just in Gaza or southern Lebanon.

He didn’t specify what actions were planned, but he hinted they were significant:

The envoy didn’t elaborate on the plans but noted it would likely make the Israeli’s infamous move to detonate thousands of Hezbollah pagers in Lebanon late last year “look simple.”

“There’s still a lot of things we can do,” Leiter said.

“We’ve pulled off a number of surprises. When the dust settles, you’re going to see some surprises on Thursday night and Friday, that will make the beeper operation almost seem simple.”

Could the Jewish state be planning on taking out the Fordow nuclear site, which is buried deep in a mountain and is where most of Iran’s centrifuges are?

As we reported, some experts feel that the only way they could accomplish that is with the help of the United States and our bunker-busting bombs.

Or do they have something else planned—perhaps the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whom Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not ruled out eliminating? Such a move is "not going to escalate the conflict, it's going to end the conflict," he told ABC News Monday.

The PM pointed out that it’s not just Israel’s war:

"We're not just fighting our enemy. We're fighting your enemy. For God's sake, they chant, 'death to Israel, death to America.' We're simply on their way. And this could reach America soon," Netanyahu said.

He added that sometimes you have to stand up for what's right:

"Sometimes you have to take a stand against evil. And that's what the American people instinctively understand. Most of them, I have to say. And that's what President Trump understands. We cannot let that happen," he added.

What Israel has up its sleeve is anybody’s guess, but unless Leiter is bluffing for some reason, it sounds like something big is in the works.
