Heartbreak and Anger As CA Set to Release Illegal Immigrant Convicted of Killing Teens in DUI Crash

I’ve been writing a lot lately about California, because Gov. Gavin Newsom has been trying to recreate himself as some sort of moderate despite his extremist record and pundit Steve Hilton has injected some hope in weary voters with the announcement of his gubernatorial run.

This story sums up everything that is rotten in the Golden State, and I warn you, the details hurt the heart.

A twice-deported illegal immigrant with a long criminal record, presumably drawn here by the state’s welcome mat and generous taxpayer-funded benefits, killed a young couple in Orange County when he smashed into their car at high speed while drunk and high. Although that alone is enough to make your blood boil, it gets even worse—authorities are cutting him loose after he has served only a small portion of his sentence.

Fox News’ Bill Melugin reports along with our good friend and former RedStater Cameron Arcand:

EXCLUSIVE: The families of two teens killed by an illegal alien who crashed into them while drunk, high, & speeding at 100 mph in OC in 2021 have been told by the state of CA that their killer will be released from prison early in July, just 3.5 years into a 10-year sentence for killing the teens, who both burned alive.

Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano, a twice deported Mexican illegal alien, had a lengthy rap sheet prior to killing 19-year-olds Anya Varfolomeev & Nikolay Osokin in the DUI crash on the 405 freeway in Seal Beach in November 2021. Both were US citizens, and they were dating. Ortega-Anguiano had several felony convictions, had gone to state prison, and had multiple convictions for driving without a license, but was still on the streets when he crashed into the teens' vehicle.

The CA Department of Corrections wouldn’t confirm a release date, but ICE has placed a detainer on Ortega-Anguiano and prepared to take him into custody when he’s released. Unfortunately, that can’t mend the hearts of the devastated parents of the teens nor undo this miscarriage of justice.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has vowed that the Justice Department won’t forget:

There are no words to describe the tragedy in this story. It highlights everything that was wrong and cruel about Joe Biden’s “let-them-all-in” border policy, and the devastation that “sanctuary" states and cities and soft-on-crime policies bring upon our communities.

Progressive "compassion" has once again proven to be anything but.

Progressive policies have hurt America immeasurably.
