We’ve written many times about Los Angeles County’s District Attorney George Gascón because the George Soros-backed prosecutor has been one of the most soft-on-crime DAs in the nation. There’s a sense of lawlessness in Tinseltown because criminals know they won’t receive the punishment they deserve.
Well, if early returns hold up, he will soon be looking for a new gig because his challenger is up by big numbers as of this writing.
A tumultuous first term in office for Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. George Gascón seems likely to end in a failed reelection bid, as he trails challenger Nathan Hochman by nearly 20 percentage points in early returns.
Gascón swept into office in 2020 on a promise of reform and restorative justice, but Hochman — a former federal prosecutor and defense attorney — has spent months painting the incumbent as responsible for increases in crime and homelessness around L.A.

The early results are not a shock because polls had shown he was in deep trouble:
On Sunday, the last of three polls on the race conducted by the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies, co-sponsored by The Times, showed the incumbent behind by 25 percentage points, the same margin he faced in the survey on Aug. 18 and only slightly better than his 30-point deficit in the poll on Oct. 8.
For some reason, though, he wasn’t reading the writing on the wall:
Despite the many negative indicators for his campaign in the weeks leading up to election day, Gascón was in good spirits in an interview with the Times at 7:30 pm Tuesday at the California Democratic Party’s election event in a cavernous hotel ballroom in downtown L.A.
Although not considered a conservative, Hochman will bring a different type of justice to LA, as RedState’s Jennifer Oliver O’Connell reported in March:
When I interviewed Nathan Hochman in January, he not only exposed the underbelly of Gascón—he has absolutely no experience in trying a case either as a defense attorney or a prosecuting attorney—but Hochman also laid out his vision and policies for the District Attorney's office from Day 1.
As someone who has watched in sadness at the decline of my city and state, I will not shed a tear for George Gascón. His little experiment with reformative justice caused so much pain for entirely too many people.
