Vice president and Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris has been busy campaigning in recent days while her boss and alleged commander-in-chief works on his suntan in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. She’s been out on the trail repeating speeches verbatim and issuing word salads that are full of “sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
Even though we’re used to ludicrous statements coming out of her mouth, her promise to lower prices if elected made even veteran Kamala watchers laugh out loud. After all, she’s been the #2 in command for three and a half years in an administration that has overseen some of the worst inflation since the malaise years of the 1970s.
This regime has turned a trip to the grocery store into a form of torture—yet now we’re suddenly supposed to trust Kamala Harris of all people to turn it around:
Vice President Harris: When I am president, it will be my day-one priority to fight to bring down prices. I will take on the big corporations that engage in illegal price gouging. I will take on corporate landlords that unfairly raise rents on working families. I will take on Big… pic.twitter.com/Rcsilj1QEo

Harris lamented the high prices we’re all experiencing:
Because, look, while our economy is doing well by many measures, prices for everyday things like groceries are still too high. You know it and I know it.
She says it like it’s a bad weather event that just spontaneously happened, but doesn’t mention that the Biden/Harris administration spent trillions on the Inflation Reduction Act (ha!), the American Rescue Plan, and the inflated infrastructure bill, all of which of contributed heavily to the soaring inflation rate. Raise your hand if you can point to a single thing that any of these acts have done to benefit you.

But it’s not the administration’s fault, no—the blame needs to be laid at the feet of the big bad corporations of America:
When I was Attorney General, I went after price fixing schemes. And when I am president, I will continue that work to bring down prices. I will take on… I will take on big corporations that engage in illegal price gouging. I will take on corporate landlords that unfairly raise rents on working families. I will take on Big Pharma and cap the cost of prescription drugs for all Americans. And all of this is to say, unlike Donald Trump, I will always put the middle class and working families first.
Because you see Coach Walz and I know the middle class built the United States of America. And when the middle class is strong, America is strong.
But the middle class is not strong under this regime; dreams of owning a house for most young people are just that: dreams. The internet was quick to react:
You have no clue how to bring down inflation

Wait… who exactly has been in charge for the last three and a half years? Oh:
What has she been doing for the last 3.5 years? Facts do not lie, but apparently she does. 👇🏼 pic.twitter.com/AKCefXzR4e

She’s in office right now. Can someone remind her of that?

This speech reminds me of a creepy photo op California Governor Newsom held Thursday, where he declared that the homeless problem was unacceptable and that more "urgency" was needed. Urgency from whom, exactly, Governor—you've been in various high state offices for decades and helped oversee the homelessness fiasco. As I wrote, "This is like the guy who burned down your house showing up afterward and saying, 'These unsightly ashes are unacceptable. How dare you!'”
Similarly, Kamala Harris waxing poetic about high prices when she's helped usher in this rampant inflation is just short of outright farce.
