This week marks the fourth anniversary of when our country officially went insane. To be fair, the COVID pandemic was unprecedented in modern times, and many, even at the top levels of government, struggled to cope with what—especially at first—seemed like an existential danger to humanity.
But the little Napoleons who rose to the top—like Dr. Anthony "Fibbin" Fauci, Los Angeles County Public Health Director (not a medical doctor) Dr. Barbara Ferrer, seed-banning Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, serially wrong then-CDC Director Rochelle Walensky and so many more—took away our freedoms like few times we’ve seen in American history. They betrayed the Constitution, they trampled on our rights, and they stomped on our liberties.

We must not forget—although I fear too many already have.
The issue is personal to me because I live in California, and the overreach of the duplicitous Gov. Gavin Newsom and the aforementioned "Dr." Ferrer caused my family immense harm. Many people in places like Florida who didn’t experience such a draconian response still aren’t quite aware of what we went through here. One of my daughters was jettisoned from college—despite the immense verdant lawns on her campus where they could have easily held classes outdoors and maintained social distance—while my two high schoolers were also sent home. The three spent the better part of two years on the couch in my living room, staring at Zoom screens which consistently blacked out under the assault of so much bandwidth demand.
That’s how long these zealots kept the clamps on us here in parts of the Golden State.
The emotional and learning damage was incalculable, but our "leaders" didn’t give a damn.
Then came the vaccine mandates, which tore apart families and caused many to lose their jobs because they were scared of the obvious side effects—and who were also concerned that the shots did not actually stop the disease, which everyone from Biden on down had promised.
Then came the free speech crackdown by the Democrats and the media. Speak up about the dangers of untested mRNA technology? Banned. Talk about the fact that you got the vax and got COVID anyway? Banned. Ask where the hell this virus came from—could it be from Wuhan, China?—banned.
They arrested a lone paddleboarder in Malibu, filled in skateboard parks with sand, forced you to wear a wholly ineffective paper mask whenever you faced another human, demanded you inject mRNA into your veins, placed plexiglass between you and the outside world, and in every way tried to dehumanize you.

We must not forget.
In my view, the pandemic paved the way for what we are seeing now—progressives who have seen what immense leverage they can wield have grown drunk on power and are now extending it to almost everything they promote. President Joe Biden, who campaigned as somewhat of a moderate and whose (unimpressive) career bears almost no resemblance to his current iteration, has skewed so far to the extreme left in the late stages of his life that he’s completely unrecognizable.
Whether this is due to dementia or an honest change of heart is unclear.
We cannot forget.
But I don’t think such a radical transformation of the president and his fellow Democrats would have been possible had not the pandemic given them a taste of what they could do by ignoring the Constitution, threatening the Supreme Court, and using every lever of power to control the populace.
For instance, who could have predicted this? An 81-year-old president who frankly seems obsessed with sex, overseeing an administration that injects gender politics into almost every sphere of our world—including, of course, our military?
A judicial system headed by Merrick Garland’s corrupt Department of Justice and George Soros-backed local district attorneys that seemingly no longer cares about regular Americans but would rather advocate for illegal immigrants and criminals?
A government that condoned mass riots in major American cities due to George Floyd’s death but which treats participants in the much smaller and much less destructive protests on Jan. 6 as enemies of the state, subject to maximum prosecution?
The same Covidians who shut down our country and locked us up have become emboldened and would love to repeat their shenanigans if given the chance.
Never, ever forget.
Their victories at the expense of the American people—and our liberty—made them think they can now tell us what kind of kind of car to drive, convince us that men playing sports against women is fair, that your hunting rifle is a terrorist threat, that inflation is “transitory,” that our border is a meaningless concept, that Supreme Court rulings just need to be "worked around"—these people must be stopped.
Yes, some in the GOP were also at fault. But let’s be real: it was Democrats, Big Tech, and corporate media who drove the train and who are now driving it even faster.
Remember.
We must not forget how they used the COVID crisis to fundamentally change the way government treats its people. We must not forget how our own American institutions became our foe rather than our friend. We must not forget how they treated those who had the temerity to ask questions and to push back.
Those who also knew early on, I mean March 2020 or earlier that lockdowns and the unfolding rhetoric was wrong/scary and went through the shunning and more for it - are you having a rough time too?

I’m grieving hard, scared and angry with a short fuse.
Also feel very alone.
I’m grateful to be in Florida - but right now? I feel isolated again despite having a wonderful fiance.
Am I unique? Is this happening to anyone else. Feels like ptsd. I’m back in trauma therapy - started recently.
We must make sure it never happens again.
We must never forget. Instead—we must remember.
