Total Defeat for Delegate Revolt, at the Rules Committee

The Rules Committee voted for binding language to be put in Rules 37 and 38, and voted to defeat Colorado delegate and #DelegatesUnbound leader Kendal Unruh’s conscience amendment.

They also defeated an amendment by Kendal, supported by Curly Haugland, that would have clarified that Rule 16 is not part of this convention.

However, all the rules changes have to be approved by a majority of the delegates at the convention. Ballotpedia:

“The committee formally begins its deliberations the week before the convention begins. On the first day of the convention, it proposes a rules package to the convention’s delegates, who, in turn, are responsible for approving the proposed rules by a majority vote or sending them back to the Rules Committee.[3] There will be 2,472 delegates at the 2016 convention.”

For what it’s worth, several of the members of the committee said that they got hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands of emails from people like us.
