Anti-gun activist David Hogg got more than he bargained for during a town hall event this week by a woman who survived the horrors of Chinese communism.

The 23-year-old, who, despite graduating from Harvard University, is known for his less-than-stellar intellect, has built a political career off the back of the mass shooting that took place at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, back in 2018.

Yet at Wednesday's event, Hogg appeared to be caught off guard after being questioned by a woman who knows all too well the risks of a tyrannical government that disarms its citizens.

Here is a transcript of the exchange:

LILY TANG WILLIAMS: Hi, my name is Lily Tang Williams. Welcome to my live free or die state. Actually, I am a Chinese immigrant who survived communism. And under Mao, you know, 40 million people were starving to death after he sold communism to them. And 20 million people died... murdered during his cultural revolution. So my question to you, David, is that can you guarantee me, a gun owner tonight, that our government in the U.S., in D.C., will never become a tyrannical government? Can you guarantee that to me?

DAVID HOGG: There's no way I can ever guarantee that any government will not be tyrannical.

LILY TANG WILLIAMS: Well then the debate on gun control is over because I will never give up my guns. And you should go to China. Never. Never. And you should go to China to see how gun control works for the dictatorship of the CCP.

The exchange caps off an unfortunate few days for Hogg. Earlier this week, Breitbart News revealed that despite raising three million dollars, Hogg's left-wing political action committee Leaders We Deserve had only spent a fraction of that money supporting actual candidates.

The outlet reported:

Of the more than $3 million raised in its first year of operations, the Leaders We Deserve PAC spent only about $263,000 on its stated mission of electing candidates from Generation Z to office combined with donations to other Democrat Party committees and groups—and instead spent more than $1.4 million on disbursements to themselves for payroll and to political consulting firms and legal fees, in addition to travel and entertainment expenses like hotels, flights, and meals.

As well as living large off his PAC money, Hogg is also notorious for his attention-seeking outbursts. Back in 2022, he interrupted a House Judiciary Committee hearing before eventually being removed by security.

"The guns in Parkland, Buffalo, El Paso, didn't come from Mexico," he wrote at the time. "They came from the US, and the shooters were inspired by racist, anti-black, anti-immigrant manifestos that rhyme with GOP talking points."
