New Report Gives Democrats Yet Another Warning That Their Far-Left Ideas Stink

Since last November's presidential election, we have witnessed a live definition of insanity. The idea is that if you continue to do something that has proven to be unsuccessful over and over, somehow you will get a different result. Democrats refuse to listen to anyone, much less the American people, and continue to push ridiculous far-left-wing policies, convinced that it will get them a win in the 2026 midterm elections. They have gathered at summits and retreats where they have been told to lose the lefty lunacy time and again. Now, a new report is once again sounding alarm bells for Democrats.

A center-left group called "Welcome" began life as a PAC in 2022, then went on to found a nonprofit by the same name for political research. Over six months, they consulted with hundreds of thousands of voters. Their results sound like a broken record. Of the voters surveyed, 70 percent said the Democratic Party is "out of touch." Most of the voters surveyed said they believe Democrats over-prioritize issues such as “protecting the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans,” and “fighting climate change" over issues like “securing the border” or “lowering the rate of crime.” But this is not going to be some wonky political report that no one ever sees. Welcome plans to distribute the report to elected Democrats and will hold events to promote it in Washington, D.C., and New York.

Like many others before it, the report urges Democrats to lose a lot of their trademark faculty lounge rhetoric about topics like race, abortion, and LGBTQ issues. They also recommend nominating more candidates who are willing to work and vote with Republicans on conservative immigration and crime legislation. Former Democrat Illinois Rep. Cheri Bustos ran the House Campaign Committee when the party lost seats in 2020. She endorsed the report and said, “The Democratic Party had better listen — for the good of our nation."

The report looked closely at the period of time between 2013 and 2024, the beginning of Obama's second term and the end of the Biden administration. They found some interesting things. The rate of Democrat co-sponsorship for bills like reparations went from one percent to 57 percent, support for assault weapons ban bills rose from 41 percent to 88 percent, giving federal prisoners voting rights went up from four percent to 41 percent, and bills aimed at getting rid of state abortion limits went from roughly 60 percent to 98 percent. At that same time, the notion that Democrats are "too liberal" went up from 47 percent to 55 percent.

But what to they want to talk about, more "free stuff"?

That appears to be the Democrat answer to every problem.

Welcome has been trying to get Democrats' attention for a while. Back in June, a group of so-called centrist elected officials, candidates, and others gathered in Washington, D.C., where a possible looming civil war within the party was, ironically, the elephant in the room. Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME) said of the other wing of his party:

“When you read the documents of the national Indivisible group, they spell it right out, as plain as day, that they’re throwing out the Blue Dogs and New Dems. Their goal is to divide the Democratic coalition until they are 100 percent in the image of the progressive caucus.”

Back in May, the Ragin' Cajun, James Carville, tried to help his party by giving them a list of "seven dirty words," some of which were phrases they needed to lose yesterday. Included on the list were "equity," "oligarchy," and phrases like "communities of color" and "generational change." I predicted then that they would not listen. As if the results of this survey weren't enough, my colleague, Nick Arama, recently reported on the Democrats' ongoing financial woes and angry donors. Republicans currently have around $86 million on hand, and Democrats just $12 million. When trying to drum up support for a recent fundraiser for former Vice President Kamala Harris, one donor replied to the invite with a string of profanities.

As thousands gathered at a rally for Democratic Socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on Sunday, it appears that the more groups like Welcome try to keep Democrats from going over the cliff, the more Democrats are intent on jumping off.
