More Blue State Buffoonery As 'Hate Crimes' Official Compares Conservative Group to 'Neo-Nazis'

Since the November presidential election, it has been fascinating and also fun to watch blue state leftists have a complete and total meltdown. They are at a loss as to what to do next, and just keep moving closer to the edge of insanity. And even though President Trump has issued executive orders against most of their pet issues, like diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), men playing in women's sports, and transgenderism, the left is not going to take those issues and go away quietly. But in one blue state, their hatred for all things conservative could have some serious consequences.

Massachusetts State Trooper Emily Todisco is assigned to the force's Hate Crimes Awareness and Response Team (HART). She is the co-author of a training syllabus that includes a slide show, which compares the conservative group Moms for Liberty to white supremacists and Antifa. According to a report from The Daily Wire, the training program is used by the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee, which trains more than 20,000 police officers statewide.

The HART unit was formed in 2023 to improve "'data collection and information-sharing' on hate crimes, develop police training with the Municipal Police Training Committee and other goals." Trooper Todisco is also a member of the state "Task Force on Hate Crime," and was appointed by Democrat Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey.

Charlie Misseijer is the director of police and legislative affairs for Moms for Liberty, and is none too happy with the "training" of police officers in Massachusetts. He stated:

“By comparing Moms for Liberty to neo-Nazis, this training plainly places our moms, dads, and grandparents in harm’s way. The 2012 shooting at the Family Research Council’s offices in Washington, D.C., reminds us that authors of these types of law enforcement training materials, like Todisco, need to be held accountable for the dangerous and wholly contrived narrative they construct simply because they detest the pro-family, pro-freedom and pro-American values that Moms for Liberty represents.”

Here is just a sample of Todisco's 2025 presentation of the course, "Freedom and Hate: Speech, Crimes & Groups." The slideshow goes through a list of local "hate groups" that police and other law enforcement officials need to be aware of. The list includes Antifa, white supremacist groups such as the National Socialist Club, and Moms for Liberty. According to the training program, Moms for Liberty is described as:

“at the forefront of the conservative movement targeting books that reference race and gender identity and electing rightwing candidates to local school boards nationwide.”

The backup for this training listing Moms for Liberty as a hate group is equally suspect; it is a citation from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which classifies them as "extremist." The training program includes the obligatory statement that "hate speech" is protected under the First Amendment, but also does not list any sort of violent activities in which Moms for Liberty has been engaged. Maybe because there aren't any.

In a super-blue state like Massachusetts, "hate speech" no doubt includes exactly what Moms for Liberty does. It's moms, dads, and grandparents who show up at school board meetings to have a say in their children's education. They speak out against inappropriate curricula and books in school libraries, which they feel are unsuitable for various age levels. They push back on school districts pushing left-wing agendas that go against religious and other values kids are taught at home. Yeah, right, certainly sounds like something law enforcement should be aware of.

But maybe the bigger problem is that this sort of "training" is intentionally blurring the lines between free speech and violence for future cops, which makes it harder for them to learn how to handle different situations. We are learning that the only time the left likes cops is when they can indoctrinate them before they hit the streets.
