AOC Parades Her New Bestie Mamdani Around Washington, DC As the DNC Keeps Their Distance

The Democrat party's continuing downward slide has been something Republicans could not have orchestrated themselves if they tried. The fact that Dems have learned absolutely nothing from last November's presidential election is nothing short of astounding. They continue to support ideas that the American people soundly reject, and the party of Bill Clinton and even Barack Obama is giving way to a new generation of radical leftists who are scaring the daylights out of the Democrat party's old guard. Nowhere else is that personified better than Democrat New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. And what should scare that old guard even more is Mamdani's new best friend.

As RedState's Katie Jerkovich reported earlier, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who campaigned with her new bestie, Mamdani, brought him to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday for what was billed as the "Communication and Organizing Skillshare Breakfast." But a funny thing happened on the way to the breakfast, which was held right next door to the Democratic National Committee (DNC). The DNC stated that they had nothing to do with the event. Then, minutes before the event was scheduled to start, it was abruptly moved to a restaurant several blocks away.

AOC said that she is eager for her colleagues to meet Mamdani "face to face," and "hear what he has to say about making New York affordable for working people." She added:

"I think a lot of people just need to get to know folks before they issue an endorsement. I hope that this conversation can be constructive to bring the party together and rally behind our nominee."

New York City-area Democrats, besides AOC, who have endorsed Mamdani, including Reps. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and Adriano Espaillat, who said,

"We're past the primary, and the people of New York City have spoken. If there is a common denominator in every decision that I've made since I began to represent this district, in terms of supporting someone, it’s called the Democratic Party."

However, leaders of the party, such as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY), recognize that Mamdani's candidacy is a problem that gets even bigger if he wins. Neither has endorsed Mamdani, but both claim meetings are scheduled. Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY) is one of the few New York City-area Democrats who has been a vocal critic of Mamdani.

AOC does have other Democrats rallying around her buddy Mamdani, those who are from other states who can safely endorse him without a lot of repercussions. Like Reps. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), who called Mamdani "inspiring," and California's Ro Khanna, who called him "impressive." But it was Rep. Nydia Velasquez (D-NY), whose district is also in the New York City area, and who has endorsed Mamdani, who might have given the best indication, based on her description of the Dem mayoral nominee, as to where the party is headed, as if we didn't already know. She said, "it it just its just beautiful to have someone who is so authentic, you know, that money cannot buy that. And, we had a great conversation."

Democrats are in an ever-deepening hole of their own making. My colleague, Katie Jerkovich, reported on former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich's recent interview with Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity, where he advised moderate Democrats, if there are any left, to "become Republicans. You have no future in the Democratic Party." Newt's prediction: both Schumer and Jeffries will meet with Mamdani and endorse him because they are terrified of the radical leftists in the party. But in case Schumer and Jeffries either really don't know, or are in denial, the radical left-wing "wing" of the party is no longer a wing; they are the party.

The AOC-Mamdani wing of the party is ready to unveil its complete and total embrace of Marxism. If there is anyone left, they have no choice but to get out of the way.

Editor’s Note: Zohran Mamdani is an avowed Democratic Socialist and has a real chance to become the next mayor of New York City.
